Wind shield, wind deflectors

I personally like the look of a short windshield on my bob tail T, but I am considering a medium height, one piece one to keep the bugs out of my face. I am querious about opinions on windshield height, style, and those window wing side wind deflectors. How do they work? Are they worth adding? Etc...

I like the short WS style also, but I don't like the taste of bugs! I compromised with a 14" WS on my T . . .

The glass on my windshield measures 9.25" at the center of the cowl and is laid 33 degrees. Bugs don't seem to be much of a bother but rain stings like hell. LOL

Love my 22 inch windshield and Top.....Would not be without my wing windows either.......The wife likes them, so therefore I like them cause she likes to cruise with me.........

Me too! My seats (fiberglass 'sportsman' seats from Speedway) are literally on the floor! And my body is channeled 4-1/2". Good thing I'm only 5'-4"!

I tried to keep the seat as low as possible, but in a standard '23, with the clutch and shifter to contend with, I had to raise it some. If the body were any shorter or I was any taller, I would have either scrapped it and opted for a stretched tub or lengthened it. I considered it anyways, but too much fabrication to the frame and suspension. It wasn't worth it to me. If I were to do it over or build another, different story.

I sit way high in my bucket....my knee is almost the same height as the side of the bucket. Want to sit lower, looking at re-doing my interior this year to sit lower but, have limited room to do so. I would love to sit as low as EXJUNK!!

Thanks for mentioning me. I don't know if you realize that I'm 6' 1 1/2" tall with a 34" inseam on my jeans and I can stretch my legs straight to the firewall. I just returned from a 100 mile non stop ride and got out with no problems in my 75 year old body.

My windshield is real T, 10" tall (lower half only), with 25 degree rake. It falls well below my eye level but I get no wind in the face due to lucky aerodynamics. I am 5'8" and sit high on bench seat in unchanneled body. A flat windshield that forms a vortex behind it will beat you up with turbulence more than a short raked one. I am not 100% sure, but I think some '23 runabouts had this raked windshield and others had the straight posts. Anyway, the view is amazing with no glass in the way and I have never been struck by a bug in 10 years and 30k miles. The slipstream goes right over your head but I wear a lanyard pinned to my cap just in case.

I also sit high in my bucket and don't have the leg room ExJunk has because of the unstretched '25 body and my 6'2" height. the top of my head is just below the top of the windshield frame. My main complaint is the reflection on the inside of the flat glass that sometimes is very distracting. I have thought of a shorter sloped windshield if it would solve the reflection problem but don't want to get buffeted by the wind. My 73 year old body with two hip replacements and arthritis aren't suited to long rides in the cramped bucket but I would like to make the shorter rides better.

A short windshield would probably work on your car. You're not stopping the wind, just redirecting it. Losing top frame and braces makes car a lot sportier looking and safety glass cut to fit is only $35. With glass at chin level, the view is spectacular.

I like the look of a short windshield. On my Valkyrie, I am always looking over the windshield even though it's clear. It is necessary to direct the wind away, but if it were shorter, I think I'd like it better. I have to keep my wife's hair in mind, even though she likely won't ride in it, lol... I cut mine off, no worries in the wind!

Nice! I am 5'11 and 32" inseam and eat my knees! Not comfortable......But, with my current set up not sure what else I can do. Do you have a stretched body? Do you have a picture of your steering and pedal set up as they come through the firewall?

When my son made the body he put a '26-'27 style cowl on the '23-'25 style body giving me 6" more legroom. I also made the seat back thinner which also gives me more legroom. All and all it is very comfortable for me and my long legs. I might also add that my body sides where I step in is only 29" high from the pavement.

Thanks! Yeah, the extra 6" would be nice.....real nice! Pedal set up is not much different then most, so, no real room gained there. My only option currently is to reconfigure the seat to gain a bit.

I'm using rpm's big boy body which is lengthened by 10" & widened by 6". Rpm also built the frame. I didn't want to ride around with my knees against my chest. I mounted the body on top of the frame to allow more vertical space. I chopped the 20" windshield frame down to a 16" height. This is a great forum ( been on many others ).
