New Old Guy....Duh!

Hi everyone.....Nowadays everyone is a kid, but what the heck, it is what it is.
Well here's the short version of me:
I'm an old guy....duh! Had hot rods all through my kid years, then adult , also Harleys. I was a "Fonz" in High School.
I did Nam in the 101st , then contractor, then 2PD's , then OCB, then USDOJ for 30 years.
All through this I gained 3 degrees and was married to the same wonderful woman for 30 years....till cancer got her.
All through this I've done cars, Harleys, and guns.
My roomy for the last 17 years, when my wife passed, it left me and him.....is Bob my bobcat.....he came out of the woods and into the house 17 years ago and never left. Has always slept on the bed with us, now just me.
Well, that's the short version.
Currently, I have 2 Harleys, Thumper ,my monster Jeep and the reason for being here my 1923 T bucket.
I'm the 3rd owner.....first guy built it right 40 years ago, second guy rigged it up to no end and I gutted everything and made it real again. The only thing I saved is the 60's paint job....it grew on me.
Well, till later......good to be here, thanks,
Gerry

Hurry up and make several more posts so we can see some pics, you need 10 post first.

Welcome to the forum from Oklahoma!

And, again, welcome from St Louis. Go ahead and give us some more details on your T-bucket; it'll help increase your message number. We'll form our own pictures until you can post real ones!:D

PS - How does Bob relate to strangers? :cautious::unsure:

Bob's OK with strangers....very few come around. When the guy was re- roofing my house after Harvey blew thru , he got a start when he saw Bob looking at him in the kitchen with his head cocked, but it was all good! One thing you gotta figure..out in the wild, Bob would have passed away a long time ago.

OK....on the T...on the non spectacular end.....yanked out all the original wiring, most was rigged, and rewired it all. It had an original T steering wheel....but that thing is for a taper shaft and rigged to a splined shaft with shims and installed upside down with a lug nut holding it on.....redid that and now have a pretty period Grant spoked wheel on it.
I installed a nice high amp one wire alternator with real Chevy chrome brackets ......it had an old GM alternator and separate regulator and home made brackets . Got rid of all the electric gauges and replaced with mechanical.
The headlights were butchered ......got new brackets and buckets .
Re did the carb linkages ....they were simply wrong.
Got new "chrome" ceramic coated headers and extension......old was chrome and rusted to hell!
I could type all day on redo's but it would go on and on.
The guy I bought it from showed me original pics , not current ones , most people would have figured they got screwed....I went into this knowing I was being handed a line and figuring I would have to do what I did. This was not a turnkey jewel......it was an abused lady.

Now what's in the works......Spirit is making a black rag top for me , I have a vertex mag ready to install.

Now here is the fun part......
1) 400 ci Chevy
2) 4 speed rock crusher tranny
3) genuine Halibrand magnesium spoke front wheels
4) 3 duece Rochesters
5) Hurst shifter
6) Hurst front discs
7) Vertex mag ...to be installed
8) Spirit top.....to be installed

Well , there you have it.....BTW: her name is Lucille and she shines more each day!

Welcome aboard from the sunny Caribbean USVI.

You must be from around Houston / S. Texas area to mention Harvey. We had 2 category 5 hurricanes last summer, just a few weeks after Harvey.

Hopefully, this year will be much different, as there are a lot of folks here who suffered last year.

Maybe I should check with Josh and see if they can add an outboard motor bracket . . . . just in case . . .

Ohhhh, and don't worry about being old . . . half of us can't remember how old we were yesterday . . .

Darlene

Welcome from Michigan. If I'm still here, I'll be 82 in November. My T would be lots more user friendly if it had doors. I can still get in and out.....it's gettin to be a challenge. A friend of mine who has a local golf driving rang and ice cream stand, told me maybe I should stop buying green bananas. I told him to just shut up and I would like a small ice cream cone.

Hi Darlene, I'm just up from Houston , in Austin. Harvey literally unscrewed my beautiful oak and it was on the roof over the garage......I was totally afraid that the huge sucker would be on top of my cars and bikes......a friend up the street, in the middle of the storm, brought his semi tractor over and with one yank it was off the garage.....We did that during 60 mph winds!
Thanks for the welcome, Gerry

Thanks for your service and welcome to the site. I am right there with you on the age thing and still kicking.
I guess you can tell we like pictures and details. Looking forward to your post.

Sounds like a cool ride. I too, bought a old build T from the late seventies.... many cool parts, but basically a total redo to bring it up to snuff... mine is a 4 speed car too, 427 powered. Anyways, interesting story, sorry about your wife, thank you for your service, welcome! It will be interesting watching your progress.

You remind me of Jerry Clower--- just shoot up here amongst us, one of us has to have some relief!! That crazy cat Bob!!:D:D:D:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::whistling::whistling:

Never heard of a " T-10 rock crusher".....? 3 deuces and a 4 speed is a Pontiac GTO (389)...
Yea, I believe the Muncie m22 was the rock crusher and the t10 was a “super t10” if it had the iron center section... right? Btw, Pontiacs were “tri powers” lol... love em! Six pack was Mopars version and three deuces was the generic name... old school, right? Btw, I’m being sarcastic, not instigating.
