New Old Guy....Duh!

Yea, I believe the Muncie m22 was the rock crusher and the t10 was a “super t10” if it had the iron center section... right? Btw, Pontiacs were “tri powers” lol... love em! Six pack was Mopars version and three deuces was the generic name... old school, right? Btw, I’m being sarcastic, not instigating.
Muncie was the rock crusher (m-22) t-10 was a Borg Warner , different company , different trans. ...3 deuces and a 4_ speed , and a 389 is a line from the song " Little GTO " sung by Jan and Dean .. iirc

Man, I sure miss the days when a guy could have his pick between numerous cars with multi carb setups, a three or four speed, bucket seats, and a posi trac, or trac loc, or limited slip rear end! Oh yea, real gasoline that we could afford too. Before gm decided to only allow corvettes to have them, there were a variety of cool dual quad and three deuce setups available. Ford and mopar too. I had better luck with the tri power setup than dual quads as a daily driver, but those Rochester 2g are pretty solid, simple carbs. Btw, the rock crushers are good, but all it takes to grenade one is a very small chip off of a gear... it will get between the gears on the main shaft and counter shaft and the cases split on them. I am amazed at some of the prices I see them advertised for... 600 up to over a grand... I used to routinely buy them for 75 to 125 with shifters, etc... if only I would have had a crystal ball... I also remember seeing multi carb setups in the bone yard. Not any more. I still have a complete, functional tri power from a 389 put back. I had a late ‘50,s 389 with dual quads, forged crank, forged rods, etc... a beast, but I let it go in a bartering transaction. I know that modern fuel injected engines can out perform them, but there’s just something about multi carb engines that get me going, and as convenient to drive and strong as automatics are, I still love a good old four speed with a short stick hurst shifter. No fun in traffic with a cup of coffee, lol. I read that soon, manual transmissions will be phased out in pick up trucks... I have several older Fords with manual trans that I’ve picked up for parts or future projects. They are getting harder to find, and divorced transfer cases are just about extinct.

Ah, the good old days! All us old farts are trying to live in the past. Me included. The new technology is great. Fuel Injection, multispeed automatics. etc. But there's something so cool about banging through the gears in your Chevy, Ford or Mopar and getting a little rubber in as many gears as you could. And the sound of the carbs sucking all that air and the glass packs on the exhaust making all kinds of racket.
Gotta' love it!

You remind me of Jerry Clower--- just shoot up here amongst us, one of us has to have some relief!! That crazy cat Bob!!:D:D:D:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::whistling::whistling:
Ha, I had not thought of Jerry Clower in years...what a GREAT quote. I know that story!

Why modern cars are becoming "disposables"
Bayou Renaissance Man: Why modern cars are becoming "disposables"

I have thought this to be the case for a number of years. Think I will start looking for a 70-72 Chevy 1/2 ton and add a throttle body and stand alone computer. Let my son drive it forever!

The train you never get off of. New cars last till about a year or two past the last loan payment before something major going wrong. Then you're forced into trading it in on a new and more expensive car and the cycle starts over. What a deal!
