we have a bucket with a 351w and c-5 trans. i am thinking about going to a electric water pump. does anyone have any experience with this? from all i have read, there are a lot of pro's and not too many cons.

thanks.

ORF scores. I've been running a remote electric water pump for 25 years. Mine is actually a Jabsco marine bilge pump once sold by Art Morrison. Here it is in the bed of my T:

Today there are many electric pumps available. A nice feature is the flow is constant and doesn't depend on engine speed. And I wired mine (and the fans) to run for a minute after shutdown to draw heat out of the engine.

I had one on my first T , I had Tuned port injection, Elect fuel pump, Elect fan, and the Elect water pump, The Electric water pump would pull a lot of amps, So at a stop light with everything running , the alternator would not keep up with the demand, I ended up going back to a belt driven water pump. Hope this helps !!

Check out Dedenbear ,PRP, and Meziere for electric pumps. And Summit (house brand on sale right now) and Jegs. Typical amps is 6 to 8. My T is electric everything and the alternator runs off the driveshaft, so I'm not charging if I'm not moving! I use the Optima yellow-top battery for deep discharge and quick charging.
