Dufus Cruising

Went for a short cruise yesterday since it was 55 degrees and sunny in St Louis. As I started out, I was squirming in my seat to get comfortable and accidentally bumped the shift lever for my TH 350 into reverse. There was an immediate screech of tires and instant deceleration. Fortunately I was at low speed and realized what I had done; quickly shifted back into drive. I sheepishly looked around to see if any neighbors saw my hijinks. I hope not. No harm, no foul. Just a red face on my part!

That’s a funny story! Good thing nothing bad happened. I haven’t heard
“Dufus” for a long time. Especially from a young guy like yourself!

not too hard to make a simple one way sprung loaded pin that has to be pushed to engage reverse. One of the national I went to I watched a T with no detents or R lock out get knocked into D and mow down a tent some kids had left just a few minutes before.. Its not worth the small amount of energy to put a lock out in for R and between N and D so that a knee or thigh cant just knock the car into gear. Sam goes for inhibitor switches.

A weekend work to do a detent and release button.... well maybe a little longer than that

We had that happen to a car with driver and passenger at one of the T-bucket runs about 15 years ago. Both individuals were ejected from the car, one did not survive the other was paralyzed for life. Be careful.

That was on a 101 Fun Run that I was almost at.....I did make it there the next year.....That was very sad...Is the one that is Paralyzed still alive?

I think so. I only met him once which was at that event so he was not really a friend and I don't stay in touch. Dennis or Lynn or Chris & Shari would know.
