Steering column Ideas

I am looking at steering columns for the Coupe and I see a lot of different types. I noticed a lot of the vertical column types and a lot of reversed Corvair boxes with a drag link. I see some suspensions like mine, 4 link with Vega cross steer. I am curious what everyone is using for steering columns? I have a 84 S-10 tilt column setting around in the shop and thought about using it. I need a tilt wheel or a removable wheel so I can get in or out as I am not the beach bum bodied guy I was a few years ago. ha ha So what is everyone running in the way of steering and type of column?

I'm using a Vega steering column & steering box. The Vega steering box has a 15:1 steering ratio. I plan to reposition the steering column. I'm going to make the column exit from the firewall above the current steering column hole. This will make more room for the brake pedal & change the position of the steering wheel. I you want a tilting and telescoping column , you'll need a Corvette steering column from the same time period ( 70's ). The Corvette's steering column will cost you much more than the Vega's steering column. Camaro & El Camino steering columns will interchange with the Vega's steering column. Also Pontiac , Buick and Chevy Monza ( Vega clones ) should interchange. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

The Chevy Monza was built on the Vega platform. A person could literally bolt a Monza v8 engine into a Vega . The v8 Monza's rear end would bolt into the Vega also. The wheels would interchange between Vega & Monza. It was a real easy v8 swap that a lot of swappers weren't aware of. You could even swap the radiator & header pipes. LOL !!

If I were doing mine over again I'd use a shorty column.

And a Steer Clear.

It would've left me with a ton of foot space.
