What am I Missing?

i've begun trying to sift through the threads for relevant stuff. maybe it's just me but finding answers in a forum format seems difficult and i don't want to commit the cardinal sin of asking questions already answered. so i usually don't.

i prefer reading books and talking with experienced folks directly. unfortunately the books i've bought thus far (tony thacker and tex smith) are mostly historical overviews light on technical stuff.
The only stupid question is the one not asked... within reason, lol!

Speedway Motors--- tbucket manual

Spirit ---manual

CCR --- manual.

All have the specific info worth the
cost.

Just remember you have to be a Jack of all trades and Learn how to be that Jack. All in time--some longer than others. Ask Spanky !!

i have the ccr blueprints but always understood that most manuals applied to the respective manufacturer's specific frame, etc... i know speedway also has some tech pdf documents but the only ones i've found were from internet searches. can't seem to locate on their website.

examples of questions i will or do have are how to determine location of rear axle (leaf) spring shackle mounts? in what order and at what point in the chassis build should someone figure out the angle of front and rear suspension bracket angles? how to determing ride height, choose proper springs) during mock up? this is just off the top of my head and maybe not even the best examples but it's the little details most everything i've read (including books written by "experts") seems to overlook.

like i said before, i think when i get to certain points i'll just post a question. i know i'll mess up from time to time but i don't have cash to flush down the toilet buying every book and dvd.

i am thankful to you all for your interest in helping. at least i know i'm among a good crowd!

ha! indeed!
The thing that get me is when guys ask questions, then argue with the guys who answer based on experience. We have had a couple of “those guys”, but they don’t tend to stick around. Most guys, members, on this site are willing to help out by answering questions and sharing experiences. I have been on other sites where they seem to relish on crucifying anyone they deem as lesser than themselves.... I have a theory, but won’t share! Asking questions tends to spark activity by allowing different perspectives and experiences to be shared. There are usually different methods to get to the desired result. I sometimes ask, even if I know, just to get different ideas.

not sure if this vague reply seems to be addressed to me or why. maybe i'm reading it wrong?

a little update on the motor mount situation. as i think i mentioned ron suggested i take some measurements and he would graciously cut some new modified upper mounts for me. early this week (thanksgiving is coming!) i'll update him on what i got. but i might hold off on that fix.

from my measurements i could move the engine back even more and still have room for the body. the body i strongly suspect was pulled off an original t body; the specs are darn close to exact. so... it's a bit smaller than some aftermarket bodies and maybe rons. before ron goes to the trouble to make those mounts, or i cut anything, i wanna be certain i could move the engine back and still have bellhousing clearance and have the body where i want it. i wish i had some pix to show what i mean.

note, i asked ron to make the frame a bit shorter than his standard frame so the engine is closer to the front crossmember than standard.

anyway, again, i do appreicate input. and if i don't get back before then i hope y'all have a great holiday!

It's just a comment on the experience sometimes encountered by some of our members
when they try to help others. I don't see this comment directed at you at all. Fletcherson
calls it like it he sees it sometimes and he is talking about past experiences on other threads,
not this one.

thanks indy. makes sense now that you mention it.

i forgot to add that i mocked the radiator in and with the engine and trans pushed full back a mechanical fan may just fit. i don't have a fan handy (or maybe i do... gotta check the stash) but i want to use an oem four blade non-clutch of course. still, i could use more room maybe but time with parts and a tape measure is necessary.

dang cold weather!

I wasn’t implying anything about you. Just a generic statement. We have had a couple Einstein’s who asked questions, then argued about everything. I’m not talking about debate either. For example, One was convinced that no matter who manufactured the parts to a t bucket, everything was basically interchangeable and easy to build... kit car. No matter who tried to save him from himself, he knew better. It’s been a couple years since that’s happened. Sorry if I wasn’t clear. Digital communication is easy to mis imply/ mis interpret.

thanks for setting me straight and i agree about the challenges of discourse online. as someone who has been a moderator and administer on social media i can relate to the interesting characters we meet up with. takes all kinds i guess.

Whether “it takes all kinds” or not, we get em! Lol... it would be boring if we all seen things the same anyways. Keep after it, you’ll have it running down the road and start redesigning stuff like most of us!

I like the Burgeson car. Looks old school I stretched mine to 108". I remember how out of shape my mustang used to get when I'd step on it. I figured that a bucket, being considerably lighter, would be more than a handful. Very fun but a real handful. My kids are even asking if I going to put wheelie bars on it! Lol.
