    SBC motor mounts?

I'm a little late, but another option is an engine mount crossmember. If your frame is a traditional t bucket frame, built per plans, then you just follow the plans and can use the setup provided. But if your frame is custom, the regular t bucket mounts might require modification. My Bantam...

Indycars, good idea about the clear coat. While the tank turned out nice, it will be basically hidden under the body. Only the sides might be visible through the wheel wells between the body and the rear tires.

Here are two photos of the new gas tank. It is currently sitting on its side in my my garage. I rotated one picture so the tank appears horizontal. Two 3/8" NPT bungs on the bottom for AN8 fittings, fuel out and return. One bung on top for the vent. A vertical fuel sender. Two baffles welded...

    Fuel Tanks

Take a look a tanksinc.com. They have different size tanks, for customs or replacements. The below image is $285. It's 27 3/4" x 17 3/4" x 8 1/6". It holds 16 gals. Being less than 28" long would allow you to mount the battery in the truck bed too. A full custom tank will cost more.

Weather. Pollen. It's been crazy the last month. I wish I had more to post. I have my custom aluminum fuel tank. It was built to allow for the maximum amount of fuel in the space between the kicked-up frame and the sloping rear of the bantam body. Should hold about 20 gals, if I did the math...

    Fuel Guage Question

Another option, if you don’t want to cut/drill the top of your tank, is a gas cap with the float and gauge built in. You won’t be about to see your fuel level without looking over your shoulder but you would not need to make any modifications. The caps come in different lengths. You would need...

A quick update. Still working with bondo. I think I’m about done with bondo work. The cowling is looking good. It’s not perfect but I am not a body guy with 20 years experience either. The bottom of the body, where the I exerted the side to lower the rear half of the floor, is okay too. I added...

    Steering ID and help please

Early to mid 60’s Ford’s steering boxes had the one piece steering shaft. Later Fords, after like 67 or 68 and beyond, used a splined coupler. If the shaft is 1” in diameter, it’s from an earlier Ford, probably a Mustang like LongJohn said above. The problem with this design is there is not give...

    Quiet as possible exhaust

Most t buckets use headers like what Spanky is showings above in his post. Installing inserts is about all you can do. Depending on the amount of room with have, you could be different and run your exhaust conventionally out the rear. Using block hugger headers, you could run exhaust tubing...

Where to begin frame/suspension set up?

Here is a image of a parallel leaf spring to transverse spring mount.

Where to begin frame/suspension set up?

First, your front axle is off a parallel leaf spring vehicle, like a truck. You can use it but you might have to fabricate mounts to use a transverse spring/hairpins. Depending on the make, you might be able to use your spindles and brakes but use a different straight axle for a transverse...

Rod ends to Zerk or not to zerk

I am using Ford tie rod ends on my Bantam to mount the hairpins to the frame. I wanted to give the car that “vintage“ look. Heim end are probably stronger but I just wanted to give you another option.

I’ve got a guy who works a different shift than me who rebuilds boats on the side. He builds his own custom aluminum fuel tanks for the boats when needed. He is a Tig welder by profession. He is the one I spoke to about possibly building me a tank. Unfortunately he works weekend shift and our...

Spanky, that’s an interesting idea. But the fuel tank will take up most of the area under the rear of the car. Though, I might have to look at that once the body is positioned back on the chassis.

Here are the promised photos from last week. Painted frame. Satin black. Body on stand. Sporadic rain is keeping outside work to a minimal this weekend. Hoping for a break next week to sand bond.

    Weighing you car for less...

That will work for an overall weight. But if you want to order coil overs, you either have to weigh the car on the corners or guesstimate. Renting scales can be more than the method above, unless you have a buddy who owns a set of scales.

Jack. I understand what you mean. I assumed I would be driving this last summer. I am only about a year behind my original schedule, lol. But it's best not to rush things. Look at it. Think about it. Envision it in your head or on paper. Commit once you have it worked out. Planning is as...

It has been nearly a month since my last update. Why? Mainly the weather. Everyone on the eastern US knows we have had 'artic blasts' one after the other mixed with rain and more rain. As I have mentioned before, my workshop has no heat or ac so.... That said, I have moved the body off the...

Update. Due to the holidays, cold weather and being sick, I haven't spent much time in the workshop. I epoxied the steel firewall onto the wooden firewall and used stainless screws for additional security. I cut out thin sheet metal to cover the floor from the body's sides inward. Both were must...

Need ideas for a back cover

Not building a "T" but most pickup t buckets I've seen have the pickup lid upholstered with the same material as the seats. Aluminum diamond plate might also look good.
