    Rear axle height?

    You're correct. Habit I guess.

    v6 T's???

Hmmm. This gas mileage stuff has me a bit confused. Back in the late 60's my father had a Charger Hemi. He got lousy gas mileage, but traveling from Sacramento to Fresno at an average speed of 120 probably had a lot to do with that. Yes, he managed to get quite a few tickets. Anyway, one...

    Rear axle height?

Theoretically, assuming a 31 inch dia. rear tire, the axle centerline would be at 15.5 inches from the ground. However, could some provide some real numbers. I want to build a cradle to hold my Vette rearend while I design the frame, and I'd like it to be at the real ride height.

There's nothing to see yet, just parts laying around. I will be mocking up my frame using wood pretty soon. Since I'm not using any of the standard, customary parts, I have to build my frame, but in wood first just to get measurements. Here's my Vette rearend and transmission. The engine...

    A year of absence

The forum has changed a lot since a year ago. First thing I noticed is a bunch more members, which in turn has produced some fantastic information. The layout is great as well, to me anyway.

Looking for quality body with door

Here are some pics of my uncrated K & S Customs body, right off the shipping palette. However, I'd bet this would require a longer frame.

It seems so for some reason. It's probably not the glass fibers, it's probably the chemicals involved. Or, what terrible substance might the evil fabricator have implanted in the part to conceal it for shipping? Heck, just use your imagination. The people that made up these rules sure did.

It's gorgeous. There was quite the problem trying to get it shipped. Nobody wanted to do it. Something about being hazardous material. Darn government rules are really screwing things up badly. UPS Freight finally did it, but it wasn't cheap.

    A year of absence

Just received an email about not being here for a very long time. Life just simply gets in the way. Couldn't do anything T-Bucket related, so the interest just evaporated. Anyway, after the email reminder, I figure I'd better show my face again. I've actually moved forward a few baby steps...

    A possible new add-on

I'm all for it. I was planning on setting up a web page or blog on my son's towing site. But your add-on would be much easier. Of course, all this will only do me any good once I start building the car.

    A day at Total Performance

Back in the day when 426 Hemi Chargers were being build, my Dad bought a 67 (I think). In California he traveled a lot from Woodland (outside of Sacramento) to Fresno. From what he told me he usually cruised along above 100. Yes, even though he used a radar detector, he still got tickets now...

    A day at Total Performance

Living in Vermont, the summers are rather short here, so I plan to install a heater in mine, somewhere. Another thought I've been kicking around is some way to enclose the body for cold weather use. With the K&S Customs body I'm getting a door. I plan to build a car with a low stance if I can...

    Gear ratios

Is this the actual ratio in the rear-end, or the effective ratio after you've figured in the tire size?
  14. T

    Body choice?

I'm sure it will. The critical dimension is the firewall where the body is the narrowest. As far I have can tell, all bodies are 26.5" wide at the firewall. From the K&S Custom site: The Stretch body dimensions are: 26.5" wide (firewall) - 48" wide (seat) - 54" long - 29" tall (dash top)

    All the same

Does anyone have any links to pictures of front suspensions that are different than the usual solid axle and leaf spring? I have no idea what might be "OK" to use on a t-bucket. What might an IFS look like on a t-bucket?

    Gear ratios

It's amazing how much a person could spent on any hobby if they really wanted to, in the name of being cool or unique. Believe me, the thought of adding a blower, aluminum heads, etc. had crossed my mind several time. I'm not made of money, so some lines needed to be drawn.

    Gear ratios

No that's the engine size. It's a Chrysler (Mopar) 440. Another popular Mopar engine, if you're a Mopar fan, is the Hemi 426. I'm using the 440 mainly just to be a bit different. I could have used a Chevy engine, but I'm a contrary type person. I'm also using a corvette rear-end, and right...

    A day at Total Performance

In this picture, are your feet on the pedals? I ask because your knees are clearly about the sides. For driving for any length of time, a person needs to stretch once in a while.

    Gear ratios

I'm making my 440 totally stock internally. Just can't see going wild, the car is so light. I want a smooth running engine with decent gas mileage, well, as decent as a 440 can be. The only real mod I'm making is mounting 2 Edelbrock 4 barrel carbs. I'm not building a show car, I plan to...

    Body choice?

I'm going with the K&S Stretch. It's a bunch more expensive, but I'd say I'm going to get what I pay for. Full fiberglass floor, functional door and hardware. Just a beautiful piece of work.
