    Birth of Long John

ORF, where did your torsion bar come from? Is it adjustable? I think your looong WB will give a great ride. Even my 120" is super comfortable.

I ran my other T without front brakes. Tip: front brakes can bust up wire wheels. ORF, I'm loving your build! And want to know how that torsion bar works out.

    T-6 and T-6 . . .

I do like different motors. Thought a big straight-8 would be interesting. Packard or the Oldsmobile or Buick with OHV: Do it with EFI and 8 pipes. Now to find one...

    Covid Project - 80's Project T-Rod

Not positive if it is the same guys, but this bunch will cut to your spec for free.

    Covid Project - 80's Project T-Rod

I ran glass for years and then changed to 1/4" Lexan with the MR10 anti scratch coating. Much lighter, and the Nascar boys use it, so you know it is tough. I found a guy on eBay who cut it to my spec for $50. Also went from a 11" windshield to a 14". Keeps the bugs out of my teeth..

    What do I have?

Jeez, original metal bodies...I'd sell them and get a fiberglass body (long version from CCR). Much more room and easy to work, and CCR will have all the pieces to fit.

    Australian New Rod Build

I saw a T with air shocks as the rear suspension. Like these: https://www.amazon.com/Gabriel-49106-Hijackers-Air-Shocks/dp/B001AM8JDW You can adjust the height and stiffness by the air pressure. I used them many years ago on my 1970 Charger.

Here's 20 ft of AN16 hose. And here in AN12. Jegs has lots of sizes and lengths. TIP: some of the nylon braided hose have a SS inner lining, which is a pain. Make sure the hose does not have SS in it. TIP 2: I use a Dremel cutoff wheel to cut the hose. Nice clean cuts, much better than a...

Yes. I use that hose with AN fittings on my T. Much easier to cut and mate to fittings. And you don't get the bloody finger sticks!

Maybe some nice nylon braided line like this. And fittings like this.

Hi ORF. I run water hoses inside the frame rails, AN-12 which splits to AN-10 to feed the two sides of the motor. But I think any good hose would be fine.

Using a Jack on your bucket

Yes, my T is 900 lbs on the front. I've been jacking the middle of the tube axle for 30 years. I imagine an I beam axle would do as well.

Big redo of the old bucket

By George, it may allow for a full stroke of the R&P. Here's full strokes without dampers: And with dampers sitting in place: I might have to move the damper pivot on the steering arm, and do a little magic so things don't hit, but this is good news.

Big redo of the old bucket

Good question! I'll jack it up and see. Stay tuned.

    Covid Project - 80's Project T-Rod

Randy, I mounted my bed lid with a long hinge at the rear so it opens backwards: I use linear actuators to open/close it, but you could use magnetic latches or Velcro. Hood hold down pins would be trick....

Big redo of the old bucket

Mercy, a year has gone by since my last letter from the front. I've been using a pair of motorcycle steering dampers to tame the manual rack and pinion steering. Here's what one looks like: ..with one on each side, set to highest damping. But I've found a bigger version: The new ones have...

1938 Ford front suspension worth using?

Hi Trogdor. It's hard to give advice not knowing what skills and tools you have. Unless you can machine and weld I'd stick with new parts from Speedway and RPM and CCR. Is this your first build? Are you prone to depression, anxiety and thoughts of suicide? On any psychotropic drugs? I'm...

    Do something about EPA domination

Yes, many installers don't last long. Mine went bust 5 years after the install. Since my panels are on a ground mount tracker I can do my own service, which has just been replacing microinverters.

    Do something about EPA domination

The govt becomes more socialist by the day. I see where CA is demanding multiuser solar (apts, condos) sell their energy to the utility at cheap prices, and then buy it back at full price! Even if you have a battery you can't escape the tentacles of govt. Even going completely off-grid will...
