    Old age rant

I found a local shop with old mechanics who love to work on my bucket. I'll go to them now for all the stuff I can no longer do.

    My T-bucket frame

Well, it's been 30+ years since we built my car, so I gottta think a bit. The only high stress connections I recall are the 4 bar mounts. We used crush tubes and long bolts for those to go all the way thru the frame rails. I know there are some low stress mounts, like headlights ( used 4...

    My T-bucket frame

mine is 2x4 1/8 (narrows to 2x3 at front) and many miles in 30+ years. I think anything more is just wasted.

    caster and rake

Caster is usually not important to us. But your heavy steering and lack of centering bothers me. Can you add more details of your steering? Where did you get your box? Have you tested it out of the car? Is your tie rod in front or rear of the axle? What's the toe-in?

    A legend passes . . .

I met him once. He was building a car with a remote cooling system and wanted to see mine. Nice guy.

electric fuel pump problem? Thats a maybe.

Sounds like you replaced everything except the carb. Hmmm...since I don't have to do the work, why not check the float and needle valve. A leaky float might do what you are experiencing.

    The Heartbreak of Steering Slop

Frame. The R&P is hidden in the front crossmember (pic from below) Only the boots and arms are visible from above. Takes careful design and some tricks, but it handles great.

selling the world's most unique and probably most expensive bucket??

I may have to sell the Potvin T. Had a stroke a year ago. And I'm 80 and not well. The glory days are behind me. But where do I sell such a bucket? And for how much? This isn't your $10k bucket. I have maybe $100k in it plus 1000s of hours my time. I need someone who appreciates the...

    National crisis

There are more guns than people in the US. And with 300 million people there are gonna be some crazies. Open air gatherings will never be safe. And think of other kinds of attacks, like suicide drones. I wish it weren't so.

    disc brakes for wire rims

Wire wheels? What make/model? I had Hallcrafts and added disc brakes. Started snapping spokes. Had a cycle shop put all new spokes on and tighten them. Still kept snapping spokes. Think their not made for cars.

    T bucket hobbles when driving

No Panhard?? Front end is just hanging on spring shackles? Need to control side-to-side motion somehow. Lemme think on it.

    T bucket hobbles when driving

What tires? Bias-ply will wiggle; we must run radials. I like Hoosiers. I ran without front shocks for years. Adding them: ...fixed lots of monkey motion. I'm bragging a bit; those are Houdailles (originated in France, called Armstrongs in U.S), adjustable rotary hydraulic shocks, hard to...

Interested in checking out others interiors

OK, I gotta respond since I've been absent for so long. Here's my interior: Those are office chairs! Sams Club, $80 each. Leave off the bases and arms. Very comfortable. Rest of cockpit is truck bed liner, waterproof, skid resistant, and tough. And cheap too. I made the seat divider out...

    Birth of Long John

ORF, where did your torsion bar come from? Is it adjustable? I think your looong WB will give a great ride. Even my 120" is super comfortable.

    Birth of Long John

I ran my other T without front brakes. Tip: front brakes can bust up wire wheels. ORF, I'm loving your build! And want to know how that torsion bar works out.

    T-6 and T-6 . . .

I do like different motors. Thought a big straight-8 would be interesting. Packard or the Oldsmobile or Buick with OHV: Do it with EFI and 8 pipes. Now to find one...
