Show Me State Fun Run - July 7-9, 2023

Few "Trailer Queens" in that lot?? Actually I completely understand the use of a trailer for long distances, I did the same with my Clubman Sports Car for interstate trips, my Wife wasn't prepared to travel long distances in an open car in hot weather. (Read that as Any Weather)

Using a Jack on your bucket

You could always make a cross tube from rectangle tube (on its side) so the centre locates on the jack, and the ends pick up the front axle out near the radius rods.

    Do something about EPA domination

Your EPA seems to have evolved into a law unto themselves. They're certainly creating Havoc amongst the diesel engine modifiers if the Youtube videos are to be believed.

    Hard water spots

G'Day Spanky I've heard of the Cerakote, always thought it was for exhaust sytems etc. The Ceramic treatment for car paintwork is marketed by lots of companies under various brand names, and is also marketed on InYaFacebook for DIYers. It raises the surface hardness of the paint. It's amazing...

    Hard water spots

Hard water (calcium) spots can be really hard to deal with, unfortunately, especially if your paint is somewhat soft. I'd recommend treating your paint with a Ceramic coating once the spots are dealt with. The Ceramic is quite a bit harder than the paint. I do paint, plastics, wheels and...

Sort of thing you could build into the front of the seat base.

    Old age rant

I feel your pain Spanky, I've done my own servicing since teen years, but these days I let the dealer do it. I've just finished changing the engine out in my daughter's Holden Astra (FWD) to help her out of a situation. NEVER AGAIN!

    Track Bucket build

If the steering shaft is supported (like you're going to) and the steering box is mounted solid, I don't see why you would need a centre support on the double uni.

    Turning radius differences

G'Day Buffman, Now I've seen the pics you put up, (Doh) I don't think there is much wrong with your setup. The hub needs to be able to turn out further than it can turn in to account for ackerman angles. The old wheel align guides back in the day gave an angle of 23 deg for the inside wheel when...

    Turning radius differences

G'Day Henry, Didn't look at any pics, I was just replying to what was written. I'll try to get a look at what was put up. Thanks for the heads up.

    Turning radius differences

I will add to my above post and say that it's more likely the steering wheel is out, as most pitman arms I've seen are keyed to the steering shaft. Another way to check is to measure from the end of the steering arm across to a fixed point (opposite chassis rail)at full lock in both directions...

    Turning radius differences

Turn the steering full one way, then count the turns to full lock the other way. Come back halfway and see if the pitman arm and steering wheel are on centre. The pitman arm may well need to go round a couple of splines to be on centre. Hope this is helpful.
