    Vega Steering Box

Why use a questionable Chinese built unit when a genuine Saginaw isn't that hard to find? I bought one off ebay for $35. They're easy to freshen up and rarely ever need new parts other than seals. Bob

    Master Cylinder bore size question

With the 3/4" master cylinder it's volume you were lacking, thus pressure couldn't build before the piston ran out of travel. When choosing a master cylinder, remember that the bore to area relationship is non-linear. When you went from a 3/4" to a 7/8" master cylinder, the bore was 17% larger...

    Master Cylinder bore size question

Here's a good training video that explains the physics of hydraulic brakes. Bob

    Drag T

That's for sure. Even if you can get the valve train to co-operate, 10,000 RPM with a 3" stroke equates to a piston velocity of 5000 FPM. Very few engines can tolerate more than about 4000 FPM. That would be 8,000 RPM. There's a grenade with a bowtie on it in his future. :pilot: Bob

radius rod length with dropped i beam? need helpmy

Considering the geometry involved, it would seem likely. However, it depends on the design of the radius rod brackets. If the rods fall short of the mounting points on the axle, you may be able to use radius rod brackets that extends further rearward. Bob

    Econoline Axle

You can straighten it in a hydraulic press. Of course, you'll need to have the appropriate tools to insure that kingpin inclination is correct, and that the kingpin bores are in the same plane. All you really need for that is a machinist level, a couple of steel bars that slide through the...

Opinions needed on I beam axles

They're cast from ductile iron which has mechanical properties similar to 1035 forging steel. They've been around for the last 30+ years, so their reliability seems proven. Can you find instances of failure where the axle was defective? Maybe, but they wouldn't have been around this long if they...

    Econoline Axle

You didn't actually say it, but are you asking if it can be straightened and used? If so, yes. It's a forging and can be straightened if you have the resources to do so. Bob

What front end to I have?

Your front end looks like the typical '35-'48 Ford spring in front of axle set up. Look at these perch bolts: http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Flat-Top-Axle-Perches,5060.html Be sure to look at the specs/dimensions and check them against your bolts. Bob

    Electric Fan

Not entirely. The thermostat restricts flow to provide for quicker warm up. Once open and water's flowing through the radiator, the amount off heat that's dissipated is dependent upon the radiator, and the amount of air flowing through it. The thermostat may begin to close if the coolant...

How do I achieve the perfect raked stance?

You need to give thought to how this will affect the clearance of other components in relation to the road surface. You don't want anything below the scrub line. Bob

Which steering box do you like

Both side steer and cross steer can be equally good when correctly designed and executed. I've got a Vega box cross steer set up on mine and I like it. Most T roadsters run a "spring behind axle" front suspension, and many have the steering arms facing forward which pretty much rules out cross...

T bucket weight with a small block

Thanks. The engine is stock except for a non-computerized HEI distributor and a 350 CFM Holley 2 barrel adapted to the TBI intake manifold. It's out of an '88 AstroVan with about 85,000 miles on it. Still runs strong, and you're right about having to feather the throttle to avoid wheel spin. I...
