    T-350 kickdown cable questions

Some parts of TH350 seem to be designed by cavemen. Anyone who reworks the governor uses finishing nails for pins, and the kickdown linkage seems to be improvised from coat hanger wire.

    T-350 kickdown cable questions

Funny how this came up just as this thread appeared. I was rearranging my throttle return springs when the kickdown cable got slack and detached the linkage inside the transmission. Now, instead of the frustrating job of attaching the cable to the linkage, I have to drop the pan and lose the...

    T-350 kickdown cable questions

The best seal for your kickdown cable hole is a kickdown cable. If you don't want to downshift, don't floor it. TH350 is a brilliant design that is hard to improve upon. Install the cable, open the throttle with engine off, and lock it down. Done. Never needs adjusting again.

Switching from 10% ethanol to 100% petroleum gas

    Paid $2.23 for 93 octane 10% ethanol this morning. 2000 E430 loves it, '23 T hates it!

Switching from 10% ethanol to 100% petroleum gas

It seems to pour from gaskets designed for real gas. Old-school carbs and fuel pumps leak like sieves.

Switching from 10% ethanol to 100% petroleum gas

I live in the area with the cheapest gas in the US and 100% gas is fairly common. 2 stations less than 1 mile away. As for adjustments, I tweaked idle mixture and timing, but went back to where it started (where it should be). It really runs great on the same tune as ethanol except for the one...

Switching from 10% ethanol to 100% petroleum gas

I've run ethanol blend in my car for nearly 10 years and recently switched to 100% dead dinosaurs for several reasons. Holley carb went 5 years before rebuild, then 3 years, then 2 years. Fuel pump leaked after 9 years. Blend is 93 octane and real gas is 87. I had reduced my CR with laminated...

    SBC 350 / TH350 / 3.50:1 ???

I like TH350s because to me they shift like a dream. Light foot= short shifts, heavy foot =tire-chirping kick. They never seem to be in the wrong gear.

    Checking deck height

Sorry, just remembered my pistons are flat tops! Looked at some old build photos. If you have about 10ccs or so, small chambers should work fine.

    Checking deck height

I can tell you from experience that 64cc heads are likely to knock on pump gas. I run camel hump heads on a .040 over (357) 310-320 hp motor with thick Felpro gaskets to get the compression down to the low 9s. I had small-valve Power Pack heads at one time with even smaller chambers, but could...

    oil catch can

Why not PCV? Or why not PCV + breather? I have PCV on one side, breather on other. Breather never gets wet.

    exhaust noise

That's the ones. Sound good and don't get louder with age.

    exhaust noise

I don't think the screw baffles show up in the Speedway catalog. You may have to call.

    exhaust noise

I have one set of headers with short fiberglass mufflers and one with screw baffles. Both sound great but the baffles will never pack or clog. Baffles also flow freer because the outer chamber is open. They sound great with a mildly hot-rodded small block.

    Brake Pedal Travel

I have never had any luck bleeding my T's brakes the conventional way. I think it's due to the low MC. A vacuum bleeder ($25-30) will get your pedal "high and hard" in about 10 minutes with no assistant.

    Wind shield, wind deflectors

A short windshield would probably work on your car. You're not stopping the wind, just redirecting it. Losing top frame and braces makes car a lot sportier looking and safety glass cut to fit is only $35. With glass at chin level, the view is spectacular.

    Wind shield, wind deflectors

My windshield is real T, 10" tall (lower half only), with 25 degree rake. It falls well below my eye level but I get no wind in the face due to lucky aerodynamics. I am 5'8" and sit high on bench seat in unchanneled body. A flat windshield that forms a vortex behind it will beat you up with...
