Just joined and thought I'd share my project.

Just joined and thought I'd share my project.

I scrapped my orginal frame and started again following the K.I.S.S. formula. I'm still staying with the Speedway body and nose, I have added the turtle deck. Still have the 3.1 V6 and T5 transmission. I did aquire a Halibrand 101 rear axle.

After about 6 years I'm back to working on my project. I'll post new pics soon.

    Dash reinforcement

I have this structure fabricated out of 1" square tubing under my dash and cowl area to support the steering box, steering colum and the windshield posts will also bolt through it.

has anyone seen this shock mount before?

I'm building a setup very similar to I'm fabricating a very similar setup to the drawing. I'm using aluminum torsion arms designed for the rear of a B.east midget to locate to the bottom of my axle and transfer the motion to my shocks mounted inboard of my frame rails through two 5" long...

    New from Northern Okla.

I bought a 392 Hemi from a guy in Perry once. It was actually in a hay bailer! Welcome to the forum from Colorado.

    Painted chassis assembly

Use 3M Vinyl masking tape and metric wrenches/sockets that are a little bigger than the SAE size required.

    Tube Frame Track T

Looks great, hopefully I can get back to work and get mine ready for the road this spring. What type of steering box are you using?

    Track roadster grille fabrication.

Haven't made much progress in the past few months, my wife had major back surgery and I had to step up and start doing all the cooking, cleaning and laundry in our household. She has about enough hardware to start a street rod of her own now! And to boot, she is now an inch and an eighth taller...

    Clutch / brake peddle ?

Do you have a link for Chassis Engineering?

    Front crossmember thickness

Try Ebay, you can usually find a steel supplier selling short lengths. I bought different wall thickness and diameters from the same supplier and they shipped them in a banded bundle and the freight wasn't too bad.

Metal Body - Can I make one?

I doubt you are going to go out and buy thousands of dollars of metal shaping equipment to build your "bucket", but I could be wrong.

    Oil pan build

Revised oil pump bottom cover, the bolts holding the cover on will be replaced with safety wired socket head cap screws before it gets installed on the motor. Also, the oil pressure bypass now has a shield to deflect oil away from the spinning crankshaft when it opens. I've got to install the...

Metal Body - Can I make one?

Ron Covell is a "master" metal shaper, he has been building cool car bodies for a long time now. I doubt that it would be very easy to duplicate what he does without spending big $$$$. Shrinkers, stretchers, english wheel, planishing hammers etc. etc. Unless you are young and plan on building...

Front Watts link instead of a Panhard bar?

I'd stick with a track bar (panhard bar) for its simplicity. What with your using a non conventional motor, why add to the things that could stall a project.

    Oil pan build

Pan dividers with trap doors are now welded in place and the bungs for the drain plug as well as bungs for access holes to the pan rail bolts are now in place. Weld in a few more lateral dams and one deceleration dam and then I have to decide if I'm going to have it powder coated or cadmium...

    Coil over front suspension

Cross steering has far less "bump steer" than using the F100, Mustang or Corvair steering box setups unless careful planning goes into the mounting location of the steering box. The cowl steering i'm using will have an undesirable amount of bump steer, but it has the race car look that I want...

    Coil over front suspension

Try a search for unisteer on the internet. And that is correct about the left side not connecting to anything. Pretty low "bump steer" with this setup.

    Oil pan build

I'm also installing an Ishihara-Johnson crank scraper. I'm looking for the small horsepower gains. As the Chevrolet drag racing horsepower guru Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins once said, "The best way to gain 25 horsepower is to look for 5 places to gain 5 horsepower".
