Holley Carb rot - Quick Fuel carbs

Well, this story had a happy ending after all. I had several car club members as well as a couple of racer recommend "The Carb Shop" in Ontario, CA. I filled out a 5 page "calibration form" online that gave them everything they needed to know about the car and motor. Cam specs, head &...

, Use Ford 8.8 rear end housing in 1923 frame

Another part worth mentioning in this rear end swap is California Custom Roadsters "bent" panhard bar that sits down nice and tight to the axle tube without having to use the usual tall bracket to get the bar parallel to the tube. It's a huge improvement over the one that was on the car...

    Makes a great sander

Speaking of "Angry Beaver" try the blades with the "Angry Beaver" right on them! "Coram" brand out of Switzerland are hands down the best cutting, longest lasting oscillating blades on the market. They literally have a Beaver logo on every blade. lol Once you try them, you'll use all of your...

, Use Ford 8.8 rear end housing in 1923 frame

Just did a '96 Explorer rear in mine the same way. Two passenger axles, shortening the drivers tube. It's a 4.11 posi, but when it got to the rear end shop I found out the posi unit was hosed, so there went another $450... Something to be aware of putting this housing in a T-bucket is that...

    Chrome header heat discoloration fix

I recently stumbled across a thread in another forum about header chrome heat discoloration with several mentions of "Autosol". I found it on Amazon for $12 and gave it a try. I had yellow/blue/purple discoloration at most of the first bends, and really bad on the rear (7 & 8) tubes from it...

    Cruising . . .

When I see kids eyes get wide as I'm going by, a couple of blips on the ah-ooga horn brings a smile to their faces every time.

    New Guy Death Wabble

Mine gave me fits trying to find a death wobble that would happen when hitting bumps. Like yours, mine had sat for a lot of years before I bought it. After going through the whole front end, rebuilding the steering box, etc... with no improvement, I finally replaced the front tires which...

Holley Carb rot - Quick Fuel carbs

It's not available here! Hence my comment about the additive that I put in my garden tool fuel. Didn't matter if it was 2 stroke or 4 stroke, if the carb sat without fuel moving through it for more than a couple of weeks, it would clog up. Those little fuel primer bulbs? Six months max...

Holley Carb rot - Quick Fuel carbs

That's good to know. I really didn't think that was doable. Did you have to do a lot of jetting & adjustments, or did the 327 like them right out of the box?

Holley Carb rot - Quick Fuel carbs

My dual Holley 450's are rotting from the inside out! Went through both carbs when I bought the car less than a year ago as it had been sitting and they weren't happy. I ended up replacing a metering block and two float bowls because the plating or finish on them was coming off inside. Less...

Steel T-Radiator Shells are back in Stock

By the way, the license plate mount worked perfectly on the bottom! Nice touch including the chrome bolts too. That was an unexpected bonus!

Steel T-Radiator Shells are back in Stock

Do you think I could notch those tabs without destroying the chrome? Mine overlap the shock towers/light mounts.

, Use Ford 8.8 rear end housing in 1923 frame

Tbuilder, the pic didn't post on my end... My fab guy is talking about doing the same. I'm just not sure if there's enough "give" in my motor mounts to allow the offset.

, Use Ford 8.8 rear end housing in 1923 frame

I appreciate the detailed feedback... I've been hunting for a suitable rear end for several months. What drew me to the explorer was the fact that most were limited slip with disc brakes, the lug pattern works with my current 14" wide wheels and there was minimal detail work needed to strip...

, Use Ford 8.8 rear end housing in 1923 frame

I just picked up an 8.8 with 4:11 posi and disc brakes out of an '96 Explorer for $400. A common mod with the offroad crowd is to shorten the drivers side to accept the shorter passenger side axle (on both sides). This is still going to leave the pinion 1-1/4" offset to the passenger side...
