    1927 dash ideas !!

Spirit cars has this nice insert for only $45. What I would like to give a try to is something I saw on the show Texas Metal and Bitchin Rides, their interior guys are talented to say the least. They make a basic structure either out of wood, steel wire or pretty much anything to create an...

    The naked chassis thread.

man o man, what am I going to do with you? There are two different frames here. You keep referring to Speedway's "Tribute frame", not what I'm talking about or interested in buying. I did clarify the difference earlier, refer to post #32, first sentence, you did reply to it and completely...

    The naked chassis thread.

Actually I'm more excited by it than apprehensive, no pressing need to know to make the decision. More like thinking out loud, so if someone here has this under their T or knows of one, they can share the info. I'm coming up with bupkis, it's always nice to see what you're buying in use. I'm...

    Steering Column through the floor.

Not 100%, but I'm not in a hurry, I'd rather see the finished result. I would say at this point I'm going to go my own route on this but these ideas I'm getting here to make that happen are terrific. I do have a nice lathe and mill, given enough time I can produce some good stuff. A piece of...

    The naked chassis thread.

Looks like I'm going to have to buy it to find the answer to my question. Anyway it goes, I'm sure I can handle it. Probably smart to get a piece of matching frame tubing from the same place to come with it.

    Birth of Long John

Cool project! T hot rod styling in my opinion looks best with either a super long chassis or a super short one, not so much in the middle. For whatever it's worth, I get my best looking consistent chassis mig welds using the stitch method. Crank up the power and do it a stitch at a time...

    The naked chassis thread.

I was confusing the "tribute" frame with the "traditional frame", the traditional being a 97" long in total length, the tribute only comes in package form and is stated as having 107" wheel base, which I guess means it's even longer. I like the shorter frame anyway. I'm confused by one thing...

    Steering Column through the floor.

Make that $299 unisteer with a vega mount, getting better all the time. I can now post a picture!

BTW, this might be helpful to some. Speedway Black Friday sale Save $25 off $250 • $50 off $500 • $75 off $750 PROMO: BLACK19

    Steering Column through the floor.

Thanks for the ideas! Yes, having the column coming straight out of the floor is the coolest. Not needing to be supported with a brace at the dash is part of that. Obviously a steering box with an integrated column and steering shaft make this much easier. Needing a coupling between the two...

    Steering Column through the floor.

Hey, thanks! I was thinking of asking but my clicking finger went dead for some reason, happens to me all the time. Seriously, I'd like to see them. Photobucket sure pulled a fast one on many thousands of people and ruined possibly millions of once very informative and entertaining pictures...

    Steering Column through the floor.

That unisteer looks promising for such a build. Not the slam dunk installation I thought it would be. With the helpful advice I'm given here, at least I'm on the right track now. Been looking at VW bus stuff, old Econoline columns, F1 boxes, this is not exactly a cheap way to go if you want...

    The naked chassis thread.

I purchased a bucket body, flat panels and gallons of resin to come later with warmer weather to make my vision of a pre 23 T coupe, been thinking about this for years and the time has come, it should be here next month. All of it will be cut up and put back together in a form hopefully looking...

    Steering Column through the floor.

hmmm, the fact that I had no luck in finding photos of these setups in image searches is making sense now. Old and forgotten T bucket tech! At this point it looks as though there are no aftermarket new parts dedicated for through the floor steering. If that's the case, I really do need see...

    Steering Column through the floor.

I like the simplicity of that dash, very similar to what I've been thinking about with a all in one multi gauge. Got any pics of mechanicals of your steering set up? There might be plenty of info on just what I'm looking for buried in threads that you know about and I don't and could not find...
  16. Taller T

    Steering Column through the floor.

I'm not new to fabrication or car building so lets get that straight right now. I did look around here and found nothing on the topic, no one I know of is selling parts like this in kit form, or identified as such, hence the question. What steering box is used, column, linkage etc etc. You...

    Steering Column through the floor.

Planning my T and have a lot to learn, bare with me. Always liked the steering column coming through the floor on old T hot rods. Please tell me what parts I need to make this happen. From what I'm seeing everyone is going through the firewall these days, I get that it's better for foot room...

    The naked chassis thread.

It would help if the owners of these great frames told us whose frame we're looking at, the manufacturer or home built or maybe a combination of both. Planning my T as well. Great idea for a thread considering I'm frame shopping. I'm liking the Speedway Tribute frame because of the model A...
