Breaking News! Scott Kalitta Killed

I just caught the breaking story. Scott Kalitta died today in a crash during a race. I just saw the video and it looks like the car exploded mid track. The car then went through the retaining wall at the end of the track, the sand trap and into a wooded area. It appears that it never even slowed down. VERY bad crash. The video is horrendous.

I'm waiting for more details.

I was fortunate enough to meet the Kalitta family through my association and employment with McKinney Corp. Race Cars. The Top Fuel cars Scott drove to back-to-back N.H.R.A. World Championship titles in 1994 and 1995 were McKinney Corp. cars.

The Kalitta Motorsports team have always been known as hard, challenging and demanding racers, but also as friends that were always willing to extend help to those in need.

For those so inclined, please keep Connie, Scott's wife Kathy and his sons Corey and Colin lifted up in prayer as they progress through this difficult time of transition.

Scott, you have left an empty spot in our lives. Godspeed.
