Hey, Darlene -

How has the corona virus mess had an impact on the islands? I'm guessing that with travel restrictions, there will be fewer tourists, and maybe fewer casino goers. Hope your job will not be in jeopardy. o_O

We have 1 confirmed case on island so far. . . . .
Who knows once more testing gets done . . . .

St Thomas is going to be hit hardest economically, it's the biggest cruise ship destination in the Caribbean, and it looks like the ships have stopped running for the next month or two.

Here on St Croix, we have a huge oil refinery that's been in the process of being revived, (massive amount of workers) . . . my worry for it, is what happens if oil prices stay cratered for any significant length of time.

We aren't a real tourist destination, so travel restrictions and tourism drop-off won't be as heavily felt here as St Thomas & St John.

So far they haven't closed the public schools or the bars / restaurants, no curfew yet and no limit yet on gathering size, but all that could change in a heartbeat, so you never know.

They're still undecided on whether to cancel/reschedule St Thomas Carnival which would normally start next month.

I haven't had but a few days off in the last 2 1/2 months, so truth be told, a few weeks of closure and a chance to work on the little car might not seem too bad.

Most of the car shows and swap meets have been cancelled in the Tulsa area, and probably in the whole state.

Here there is no more toilet paper, we had to cancel bathroom breaks.

My work (school district) just told us to stay home for 3 weeks.

Facial tissues are the new butt wipes. In Stockton California it is hard to find toilet tissue. However ; you can find facial tissue. No paper hand towels , paper napkins & baby wipes. Also , no bottled water. And RAIN is scheduled for the next 2 weeks. Makes me want to take an anti- depressant medication ( side effects are suicidal thoughts ) . LOL !!!

So my project is on hold. Not because i'm quarantining myself ; it's because of the crappy weather.

Why toilet paper ? Are the panic shoppers expecting to have diarrhea for a long period of time ? Diarrhea is genetic ; it runs in your genes ( jeans ).

G'Day All,
The Toot paper paranoia is well and truly taken hold down under as well (scuse the pun) This going to get a lot worse B4 it gets better unfortunately. Today QANTAS grounded 150 planes, going to be heaps out of work. First people to be affected are casual workers! (who can least afford the down time) Hope everyone is staying safe, I'll continue to get my Bucket fix by coming on here each day.
Regards,

Now they told us (maintenance and grounds) to come in. I guess we're expendable.

Kleenix is is made differently than TP.
It doesn’t break down a easily as TP and too much will clog up your sewer pipes. Then you won’t need toilet paper!

Save money--soap and water with a wash clothe.

Don't panic--We used a Sears catalog back in the early days when we didn't have indoor plumbing. :):):D:D:whistling::whistling:

Lol, people need to settle down. There are supplies in warehouses and still being manufactured. The greedy, opportunistic people trying to get over on everyone as a result of fear should rot in hell. I went out to get medicine and stopped in to say hello to a friend who owns a local hardware store and although all of the grocery and dollar/convenient stores and local markets were reportedly out of all paper products, he had plenty... I grabbed some for back up, but I found it humorous. Also, making a political issue out of this, like everything else these days, will only serve to make things worse for everyone. What happened to our society?

This area I work in is like a ghost town. There's a few people walking dogs or jogging, but for the most part the community is dead.

You make a great point. What makes this country great is the help-your-neighbor spirit that built this nation, from barn raisings to wartime sharing. When we start to get self-centered and think 'gotta get mine & to hell with the other guy,' we've lost. We need more of this:

New England Chapter members Ben Bateman and Jeremy Gatcomb had a busy weekend. Frank Alguire posts on fb: "Jeremy Gatcomb and Ben Bateman came over last night (Friday) after work (about a 4 hour drive). This morning we moved Gail's car out of the garage, turned the heat on, and moved a whole bunch of stuff over to that space. Then Ben and Jeremy lifted the body off the chassis and put it on a rolling stand I have. Jeremy brought me a used 700R4 which they hooked up. They put that in, changed the pinion seal, bled the master cylinder and got rear brakes (need stuff to do the front brakes). Finally, a rolling project thanks to a couple great tbucketeers. Thanks Ben and Jeremy!"
