Motor and Mid Plates

Has anyone ever used a motor and midplate in a T-bucket build for the street?

I could see it if you were using a tubular frame with IFS, but what would be the advantage with a conventional T build?

You have to take the thickness of the mid plate into account when you have a torque converter built, so that it maintains the correct engagement in the transmission pump. In effect you are spacing the block from the trans by the thickness of your plate. Especially pertinent with high HP engines....
