Older 350SBC or LS (5.3L 323ci)

I think the best advice I can give; run the engine and drivetrain that you want. Ultimately the build is going to be for you. The LS designed engines are the new 'Small Block Chevy" when it comes to Rod transplants. But you rarely see them in a T, which in my eyes increases the cool factor.

Does the engine need to be new bare block? If building the engine from scratch is your personal goal then by all means go for it. Yet, you would save a considerable amount of budget by utilizing a take out drivetrain from a LS car or even genIII/GenV 4.8/5.3/6.0 truck. They can clean up well enough, be rebuilt if necessary and alot of the time you get the fuel injection systems with the take out drivetrains, albiet O.E. fuel injection isn't pretty.

But as we all know, the real naturally aspirated LS power comes from the carby :)
