Pics from my build.

Rubicon - Two questions, as I have a CCR top frame that I have been dragging my feet on installing.
1-Is that bracket behind the seat some type of quick release?
2-Would you please post a picture of how the top attaches to the windshield?

Thanks!
Haven't seen the front mounts yet.20190518_143410.jpg 20190518_143547.jpg

These the brackets I got from CCR. If you have their frame you can see the hiem joints sticking out the bottom on each side. A bolt goes through the bracket and the joint. I made a hinge on the back of m body and added framing to the CCR top. I will make new brackets for the front with spring load pins to hold it in place. I want to be able to lift the top, get in and close.

Do you have any type of support for your roof hinge inside the bucket ?? I plan to incorporate core mat. SpiritCars uses it when the lay up their bodies. It adds strength.

Here are pics of the top I'm working on. Went with .250 x 2.500 stainless bar stock Welded a 1/2-13 threaded coupler on top. The bolt going through is what the bear claw latch locks on. I will shorten the striker bolt, shape and polish stainless. So far every thing seems to hold tight. When you push on the top the whole car rocks. I'm unable to push the top open from the sitting position. My arms are to short. So I added a cross bar 20" back from the windshield. In the center of the I'll put bar that will swing down that I can push up on to open the top. build a temporary one and it worked great. Now I need to build the stop so the top doesn't open to far. I have a few ideas I'm kicking around. I'll lets those bounce around between my ears while I work on cutting out and polishing the front supports. Money a little tight right now so I'll try making a cloth top until I win the Lottery or the next SS check.

Darlene, page 5 has a picture of the top from CCR. It is either on or off. I added more tubing and made a hinge so I could open and close it to get in and out.

If you a talking about the top, page 8 has a couple of pictures .

I was talking about the top, but the pics on page 8 were a bit wider than I was looking for (and before you put in the bear claws) . . . I was particularly interested in the top / windshield area . . . and how the latches worked in overall. That looks like some nice work there.

Darlene
here are some older pics. Hope they are what you were looking for.

Thanks!

That shows the area I was curious about . . . . where the top overhangs the windshield and how it secures

Here are a couple of pictures of what I've been doing. The pictures are on my phone and it's difficult to down load onto the forum. I have not laid the glass yet.

Here some more pictures. I made templates out of matting they use for pictures. I would have used poster board but I couldn't find 30x40. Then I used countertop laminate for the forming around the frame.

That's a lot of ingenuity you got goin' on there!

Started putting the fiberglass on the top. First go at it didn't start out well. Measured out the resin and misread the directions for the harder. Then I was thinking or should I say not thinking, so many drops per oz. Took off the cap, did not look at the top and poured X amount in before realizing I didn't have the nozzle on. I went into panic mode and poured another pint of resin in. Mixed and started putting it on. Going as fast as I can. Holding the mix in one hand and pouring while I move it around with the other. While moving it around I lower my left hand holding the mixture. Not knowing until to late I was pouring it onto the garage floor. Then stepping in it and tracking it around the work area. I threw a T-shirt over the big pile of resin and oil dry over everything else.
I finished up pushed the top out into the sun hoping the heat would help set it off. An hour later the stuff on the floor was hard and I was able to scape it off without issue. My shoes not so lucky. I had poured a lot over the left shoe and walking in all the oil dry with resin, what a mess. New shoes when I'm done glassing. Second layer of glass went a lot better. No major issues other than I'm a slob when it comes to anything in liquid form.
Today I trimmed off the excess glass overhanging and will start putting glass on the back of the top. One layer of 6oz cloth then a layer of 18oz biaxial cloth. The last layer or two will be 6oz cloth which I'm going to dye the resin black.
