Ditto for "the carb must be level" myth.
I respectfully disagree. Unless you make provisions for oil control and fuel.... ie dry sump, fuel injection, etc... I’m not saying that they have to be dead level, but the oil needs to flow towards the drain provisions in the block, and depending on carb selection, float settings and fuel bowl levels are affected.
 
All I can say is no one on here has ever been to a hill climbing event and NOTHING is level on those hills. And they still run when the carb is at 45* plus or minus/ front to back and side to side Fuel injection doesn't care what it's attitude is, even upside down.

Just keep the drive line straight within 2* to 5* and it will be alright. Build everything else around the foundation to tastes/looks.

Always put SAFETY FIRST--everything else later.
 
There are a lot of blown motors out there and the top of the blower is parallel to the crank so there is no slant on the carb and oil drain back it is ok.
