Short Notice - Cruise Lake Texoma

Sounds like a winch is headed into the wish list next, lol!
Headed to Portland Maine in September for another NTBA cruise event.

Got three things to do before then ......

1.) Replace Oil Pan on TBucket

2.) Add another cooler to my Navigator for the transmission fluid. Temps are hitting 205°F when
ambient is 90°F. I have purchased a Derale 40 row stack plate cooler for this mission.

3.) Add battery and winch to trailer.

Ordered a new Canton 15-240M road race oil pan from Jegs, after talking with Canton tech
support. I needed to make sure it would fit a Dart SHP SBC block. I had the 15-240 on my
wish list, but the dip stick was on the wrong side. The Dart block also uses the thick gasket
where it goes around the timing cover. So I ordered the Fel-Pro one piece gasket for a two
piece rear seal. Can this shit get anymore convoluted and confusing ???

Actually it can !!! Fel-Pro makes a one piece gasket with the dip stick on the right, left, both
or none at all. I didn't want to wait on special order so I'm using the same one I did when I
built the engine originally. It can have the dip stick on either side.

Found out that the "M" moves the dip stick from the driver side to the passenger side. The
pan is actually for a Corvette, but since I don't have frame or suspension getting in the way
it works. This new pan will give me another 1-1/4" more ground clearance over the Milodon
30901. The system capacity will be reduce by one quart, from 8 quarts to 7 quarts.

Looks like it will be dropped shipped from Canton and will be at least a week before it goes out
.... if I'm really lucky !!! Nobody but Champ Oil Pans has a pickup for the 7" pan depth with a
Melling 10552 (10% Over Volume) oil pump. And guess what, nobody has that in stock so it's
a special order from Summit.

I have a very similar pan on my Trans Am. Very good pan. I did have to trim my starter mounting block(not sure what to call it) to get it to fit. Its a "universal" type fit high torque starter though. Worked great when I had a stock starter.
