Simple question

Gel coat helps the part come out of the mold. I saw B.C. from Spirit say it will stick, but I always sand to to rough up the surface. John

Gel Coat is another resin. Gel Coat helps to provide a better surface by keeping the glass strands under that thin layer of resin. Gel Coat is applied to the show surface of the mold. When the Gel Coat kicks then the glass and resin can be applied.

Okay guy's thanks,,, I'll sand to rough up then apply the fiber. Whew, was hoping I didn't have to take it all the way down. If it's really thin, shouldn't be a big deal either way. Soooo, I have a easy project in the morning. Cheerio pip pip and all that jazz :)

Make sure you wash and clean the gel coat with a good prep sol to remove the realese agent before sanding. You will get a lot better bond. Dwight
