I have a mallory YL-551-hp converted to electronic.
Went to replace the cap only to find out cylinder 1 and 6 are
Swapped in the cap. Never seen this before. Guess its so
The wires do not cross on top. How would i buy another ?

Let me explain better. The cap has 2 opposite posts that cross inside the cap. Making a cleaner look not crossing the wires on top. This is for a ford 289.

You explained it right the first time, that's why I told you to give them a call and tell them what you have.

I'd be very leery of using a cap with crossed wiring in the cap. Crossfire has been selling these for years and they don't hold up to high energy ignitions. I tried one and it burned up inside.

Turns out that cap was causing a misfire ! Standard mallory cap
fixed it.
Now the coil primary measured in the 3-4 ohm range.

Installed an accel 8140 (1.5 ohm). Instructions say no ballast resistor.
This is being used with a mallory 6100M electronic conversion.
I read different views on that subject.

The Mallory unilight module requires the ballast resistor. It does not use 12 v, it won’t live long without the resistor.
