no need the seal is at the tube not the threads. Dwight

Nope. Flares do the sealing. It it leaks you need to look at the pipe ends and their flares.

I did put some sealant on my pipe fittings. I just made sure I put it far enough up on the fitting to help it seal but to keep anything from entering the braking system. I remember someone telling me at one time that a brass to brass pipe fitting didn't need any sealant on it but I've never tried it myself so I can't say from experience if that works or not.

a small amount of liquid thread sealer works at pipe fittings, nothing on flares ends..

Thanks guys for the replies. I know never to use tape on flares and I always use it on pipe threads but wasn't sure on pipe threads for brake lines.
