Why did Ted use such a long spring and mount it WAY out to the axle with no real normal mounts?

Never did understand how he delt with no shackle. I guess there is a slot in the spring or bracket.

Nope...just a round hole.
With the spring flat at normal ride height there is hardly any deflection within normal axle movement so a little slop between the bolt, spring and axle mount is all thats needed and the bushings can handle it.
Mr Brown was a pretty sharp guy. ;)

I don't like the bolt idea , I think the shackle idea looks better . I think when you turn a corner the shackle would work better. By drilling a hole in spring , could weaken the the spring . ??? looks like it would be a firm ride . Would have to drive it to see what happens ?

Ted proved that it works with many miles, Think of how a sway bar is mounted to the A arm, single bolt with bushings.

Somewhere on here Ted explained why the long spring. Was a safety thing if I remember. Will try to find it.
