Ted Brown suspension

The spring is flat so theres relatively no deflection that would require shackles within the normal range of motion.
If you have a high arch spring there is a lot of deflection, so a shackle will see a lot of movement as the spring works.
Bet that rides nice with that long spring.
Yes that was his theory, The long wheel base was his latest design, and comfort was number one, and remember he built this car in '88
