Winter Rebuild

Hi Everyone
I am relatively new to this Forum
Here is the story
I sold my UNFINISHED T to SteveR
He really likes it
I thought I was done with T's
As we loaded the thing on the car hauler to send it out towards the west
I started to get that sick feeling in the pit of my stomach ( the OMG what did I do feeling)
So it all started again
THE SEARCH for a suitable subject to do
after months of searching EBAY -CRAIG'S LIST and other local listings
I found one -- it was in Ca. I made the deal knowing that this thing was rough - but it was complete and drivable
I sent an old neighbor that moved to Ca. to check it out
He said it looked like it was all there
SO
I sent a car hauler to pick it up and 1 month later it was in my drive

I drove the car for a couple of months
Then in Ohio the weather turned ugly
so
I started the dis assembly
MAN WAS THIS THING ROUGH

I sent the frame out to be sand blasted
I totally cleaned everything
And I am now in the process of repainting

FRAME - REAR SPRING -- GLOSS BLACK
ENGINE - TRANS - REAR AXLE --2010 CHRYSLER MANGO TANGO ORANGE
BODY --WHITE W/ ORANGE PEARL IN THE CLEAR ( this will give an orange color from the side and pure white when looking straight at it )
INTERIOR --????
Well that's all for now

Should I post pictures ???

Sounds like a healthy beginning. It's hard to fight the fever once you get it. I think the build is the best part. You get a feeling of accomplishment with every lift of the wrench. I'm glad you got another one to work on.

And YES. You can post pics!

HI
i tried to upload pics
message says to big to load
can anyone tell me how to upload pics

Hi
Hey My son showed me how to do pics
as you can see the white frame was as I got it

I used Gloss black automotive paint on the frame
Epoxy primer on the rear axle - motor and trans
then painted them MANGO TANGO
I dressed up the motor a little bit
I have a new engine oil pan that has to go on it
the trans is a 700R4 it will get a chrome oil pan and a chrome torque convertor cover
thats all for now
will post more pics as i go

It is winter here so painting goes slow
I am doing this in my back garage and it takes alot to get it warm enough to paint
THE BODY NEEDS ALOT OF WORK
The wood has delaminated from the fiberglass so I have to re-do the wood
Any comments on how to do that would be helpful

thanks for your comments
Frank

I'm sure you are aware the steering in your T is an early Dodge van box. For those who don't know, this was a kit offered by Kurt Hamilton in the early '70's. It worked very well with the then popular vertical colunms. There was an artical on this kit in i believe Popular Hotrodding around that time.

Can anyone identify that rear end?

Very nice Big Frank thats gona be one nice ride when you are done. As if they are ever done. Youngster is the official Historian i saw the steering box and noticed it was differant but i didnt know what it was, that was cool that you noticed it youngster way to go !!!!

A wild guess would be that the rear end is a '55 -7 Chebby ??????

the pumpkin looks centered, is that correct? is the 58 the same?
Thanks for the answer!

Hi Guys
Youngster thanks for the info on the gear box
the rear end is out of a 62 chevy according to the date code marking
I got some more stuff done
mounted the rear shocks and brackets
I got a new TOTAL body for it
I am fitting it to the frame now
I talked to MICKEY -- he said he could get me some help with that
I will post more pics soon
Thanks
Frank

I like that color. Looks like the makings of a cool little roadster.

Hi Guys and Gals
It has been nearly 1 month since I last updated the T
Here is what's happening
I fitted the Total body
3" drop over the frame
The old body had a 5" drop over the frame
I did not like it so low -- My 26 year old son does though SOOO
He has now decided to get into the T building MODE
We got a total 23 t U-WELD IT frame and he wants to use the old body
and a SUPERCOUPE drive train that he has in his back yard

Went down to Florida for a weekend with my neighbor to visit his son in college
AND while we were there meet with MICKEY LAURIA
WOW what a nice guy
I think the world of this guy
He is retired and just full of help and wisdom
What an asset to have him in our community
Any way
MORE UPDATES

I located a set of fenders -- Flip up style 10 " wide
My rear tires are 12 1/2" wide
What to do -- What to do
I cut them in half lengthwise and added 3" to them
They are in the fiberglassing stage right now
I will let you know how they turn out later

I got a plywood floor for the body
this thing went right in as if it were made for it -- IT WAS
I have to Drill some holes in it for the brake pedal and some other things
I sent the front spring out for rechroming

I won the gas tank auction
as soon as I now the exact size I can stuff back there I will order the tank

I found a electronic speedo sender for my 700R4 tranny

What is your opinion of having an optima battery in the bed with the gas tank
I can't think of any reason this would't work
What' your opinion

How does everybody glass in your floors
I was thinking to liquid nail the floor to the body and then run fiberglass strips to reinforce the floor

That's it for now
I will be posting pics in the gallery soon

Thanks
Frank
