Nice paint on those buckets but no front brakes. But back then I don't remember people in such a hurry driving like idiots.

The track nosed T has front brakes and is KILLER!!!

Ahh... the "juke box" days. I remember reading Hot Rod and almost all the T Buckets were running the "fad" style. It was the golden age of candys, pearls and panels. They were always a treat for me. But the T I feel in love with was one in an ad for Mothers car wax. An old lady standing next to a chromed out and purple painted bucket. Man, I'd sure like to find that ad again.

Now a days those paint jobs and chrome would cost more than the rest of the car. Not complaining because plating and paint shops were very dangerous for the workers and the environment years ago. Those cars are cool; just takes a whole lot of money for most of us to do that. So ya see a lot more "Plain Jane" cars being built now. But, when mine is done I can still say I built it and it will look pretty good. Not fancy, not a show car, but really good. That's good enough for me and my wife who will look really cool riding in the right hand seat.

IIRC , that track T was built by John Buttera & Ron Covell . Someone correct me if I'm wrong....

That track T was actually designed by Tom Daniels and built by Ron Covell for Tom Prufer in 1974. It had a Mercury Capri V6 engine and a wishbone front suspension along with a Datsun 240Z independent rear axle. The 1st Buttera built track roadster was built for Any Brizio about the same year, had a rotary engine for power and a four bar front and rear suspension. It was then sold to Don Varner and the rotary was replaced with a V6 Capri engine, a Halibrand quick change replaced the pontiac rear axle and the nose and body was reworked by Ron Covell. Lil John built another Track T in 1980 with a 1923 cowl joined to a 1927 body and again powered by the Capri V6. I have always loved Track T's (which is why I'm finally building one) and am a huge fan of Lil Johns work. In fact my frame construction and rear suspension is based on a series of articles following his build of a 1929 Ford roadster in the early 80's in Hot Rod magazine. Just some FYI.

Thanks TTV6 , at least I had 1 name right,:whistling: shows not all my memory cells are gone...but the more I think about it, it's probably the '80 version I recall...
