Not a problem. I have met George (GAB) and to be mistaken for him is an honor. As to missing your mind, welcome to the club.

I'm just a white boy lost in the Blues!

If anyone is curious, DraftSight runs just fine in SolusOS (which also is free).

Here's a hint - fluidfloyd provided a link to the DraftSight page in his post. You even quoted it. :)

Thanks Mike,
I looked at the draftsight page before I posted the question.
The page does not say if it is 2D or 3D.
I do not waste my data download quota downloading things that are impractical for me

Dang Fluid George...you are making me blush.

Yes, I use Inventor. It's an ancient version now and there are tons of capabilities of the program that I don't use or even know how. I had 5 years of drafting in high school and a year in college and I had quite a bit of time learning to use the 2D program (Drafix) that I started with. It just does things differently than with a pencil and paper and takes some getting used to.

If you are going to jump into 3D, see if you can find someone that will let you look over their shoulder while they are drawing. That method helped me greatly. The learning curve is pretty steep for an old guy. But it can be a lot of fun and a valuable tool.

Hope this helps.

Is that Draftsite program a 2D or 3D CAD program?

Bob,

Sorry for the slow response. As you probably know by now, Draftsite is a 2D cad program that will open pretty much any other 2D cad programs dwg or dfx drawings. Your confusion might come from the Dassault reference to Solidworks which they own. This is a quick down load and a really great drawing program even if it is free. Hope it will help you out.

Well just plain George, you don't appear to me to be the blushing kind. And for sure, there's nothing plain about you! Hope to see you in the near future in KC.

The Other,

Let me know when you are going to be in K.C. and we'll get together.

George,

Looks like I might be spending a lot of time in K.C. in the near future. Lot's of interesting projects on the board at Dick's place. I'll keep you posted.
