Chrome header heat discoloration fix

I recently stumbled across a thread in another forum about header chrome heat discoloration with several mentions of "Autosol". I found it on Amazon for $12 and gave it a try.

I had yellow/blue/purple discoloration at most of the first bends, and really bad on the rear (7 & 8) tubes from it running lean before I bought the car. The Autosol got it all off, but not without some elbow grease. I ended up putting one of my small wheel buffs in a drill and went to town.

If you zoom in on the pic below, you can still see some slight discoloration on the pipe just below the cap of the Autosol tube, but that's a huge improvement from it's former bright blue. I stopped short of removing that because I'd read that this stuff can actually get through the top layer of plating, so it's not to be used without caution...

Might be worth a shot if your purple pipes bug you like mine did me!
