New to this T effort--Ran accross 1988 corvette --body paint fadded-fiber g showing many places -door/window rubber shot--seats good --dash works-no leaks under from trans/engin--drives out good--original rims, looks like tires also original- haha--available for $2200. Is this good start for T?? Take off fiber body and?? Any advice --

The Corvette has a lot to offer if you want to do something similar to what I am doing. But, my project is different from the usual T. I have a few pictures here and the complete build on Face Book. I am using a modified Corvette steering rack and would have used the IRS, if I had one, along with my IFS. I also have a TPI that I may use. The T then becomes a 2000 pound Corvette.

I've thought about this also as I have an '86 vette just taking up space. I've looking into kits that use these as donors, but haven't found anything that intrigues me yet.

Not really going to work like you would hope. Too much of the body is the structure. Now using the rear suspension is a great idea. I'm currently putting the suspension from an 86 parts car under a 46 Studebaker. Depending on what's left of the car you are looking at that price seems kinda high. You can get running C4's for 2500-3000.

Here's a picture of what a stripped C-4 frame looks like.

Thanks for all the thoughts--am on to another route-- purchased frame , axels etc and hope to hang stuff on to it.Really like the vw " T body" saw on this or another site- read so much am rummy, or maby just the rum did it! Bugs are $100-$200 with title around here. This would solve title issues also!??

You have a pretty good looking start there. I don't know what your skill level is but I would think you could be on the road in a short time by building what you have along traditional lines. There has been more than one project left unfinished because the builder couldn't work out the problems with an exotic type of suspension.

Frame I am working with has 119" wheel base--seems kind of long could shorten but yes best to select body first--cut once____ .

By all means wait till you have your body.
