Why cover it? It looks great!

Horn button from a cheappie chrome steering wheel. They measure 2.950 id. Notch it for the wires and a couple dabs of RTV.
 
You can get chrome or aluminum hub covers in lots of different sizes, also black plastic ones for trailers. Just notch for the wires and glue it on.
 
I've not tried it yet, but my plan was to use a short length of PVC pipe, notched for the lines, adhered to the tank with silicone adhesive. Then a cap matching the filler cap adhered to the top of the PVC.

3" or 4" pvc cap shaped to the tank, notched and glued. Painted blk like the straps.

Also might be a good idea to put the wires inside some flexible plastic wire conduit. IMO
