When I was researching crate engines I found this offering and after looking at their really good dyno chart, decided it would be the best bang for the buck of all the crate engines that I looked at.
I put one of these brand new GM engines in a trans-am i have.. http://www.jegs.com/...067353/10002/-1
$1500 bux and it was at my door in 3 or 4 days.
Its vary tame tough.... When the warranty is up im going to put in a bigger cam.
Chevy High Performance mag did a build up using just bolt on's with one of these crate engines and turned some impressive numbers. Do a google search for "goodwrench chevy high performance crate"
It was at least a 5 part story.
My friends son bought and installed this 450hp 383 in his Nova this summer. He ordered it from Jegs but you can also get it direct from Patriot. It's a screamer, he's put about 5000 miles on it so far and hasn't had one bit of trouble with it.
Thats alot of compression for the crappie gas we got now, and the stuff is getting worse everyday. I guess we're gonna have to start building stills, not for the drink, but to fuel our rods! :foottap:

If you're looking for a basically stock engine those work great. When the 327 in my T-Bucket developed issues, since i was working 60 hours a week and to in order to lessen down time until i could rebuild the 327, i ordered one of those engines from Jegs. With an Edelbrock Performer intake/carb combo and a Summit HEI it ran really strong. It's currently sitting in a corner of the garage patiently waiting to be installed into my '56 Chevy sedan.
