Anybody know where to get a electric cooling fan shroud rechromed? I've bought three in the last five years and the chrome or what is suppose to be chrome goes away in about a year. It just fades to a pale yellow and then it's black. No I'm not going to paint it. That must be why they only cost $100. Later Harley
It's plastic and yes I've heard about the vacuum process and that the chromed plastic parts in new cars are done this way. I believe the conductive coating process is what it needs because of the exposure to the heat and elements. Apparently when these fan housings were done they forgot to load the shiney stuff in the vacuum chamber before they flipped the switch. LOL Harley

Well...if its plastic I wouldn't...hey, if you like it though....
The fake crome on car grills will start going south on about the 2nd or 3rd year. To me the suff is plumb cheesy. You'd figure we can send robotic probes to Mars and all we shou be able to put some serious 'shiney stuff' on the plastic.
However... there are suppossed to be some places that'll redo your stuff and they brag about it lasts for years and years....do a internet search!

I did and found one place that would do it for $1k. WOW, I can buy a new every year for that or make a shroud out of alum. and have it made shiney. Well I asked and it sounds like I better get going on a new metal shroud. Thanks
