Okay, guys, probably a dopey question. The mounts that are at the front of the frame and used with a cradle type mount installed on the front of the engine looks like it will support the front of the engine with no problem. What about the rear of the engine? Is the support for the rear of the engine the transmission?
A lot of the older sbc engines with front mounts also had rear engine mounts. The idea was that with all the stress on the trans bolts was to much.I have never seen one break but I have heard of it.
The older Chevy's with the front mount had side mounts on the CAST IRON bell housing I honestly don't remember if they had tail shaft or gearbox mounts as well on the tranny or if it just hung from the bell housing.Everything I've read and from rodders that are older than me all say NOT to use a front yoke style engine mount with an aluminum bell housing and a modern tail shaft mounted trans it will over stress and break the bell housing.
Leon is right. It really puts a lot of strain on the aluminum transmission to put a saddle type mount on the front of the engine and the transmission one way back on the tailshaft. There evidently were some failures because they stopped doing it that way a long time ago.

My 421 Pontiac Catalina SuperDuty, 455 SuperDuty with 2x4's, 3500 stall converter, manual valvebody, Turbo 400, 12 bolt with Strange Axles, running 4.56's with M&H 34's................the 400's bellhousing would bust under full power at the 100 ft. mark quite frequently unless I would get a disc grinder with a flap wheel and smooth the casting seams there in the bellhousing to transmission areas and all thru the bolt boss areas..............
You could see where the stress put on it would start as stress cracks at the bolt areas, crack thru the casting lines down into the frontpump areas...............................just sold it to make room for my T.........
