front spring

I have a total performance tbucket with a 429 bbf in it looking for a replace ment spring that would give me a little for lift and be a little stiffer the total performance spring flattened out almost all the way.

As long as the engine oil pan is not too close to the ground, or any other suspension or steering is unit affected, does the car ride good?? and are the shackles at a 45 degree angle? that is the most important part, otherwise you will get side sway, not good... as the car will swing on the shackles, so to speak, does the chassis need to be higher?? then you could just add a spacer to raise it up that much? a pic would be great to see just what is happening with that spring, if it is riding correctly.. Drive safe :jh:

I have to mostly agree with Ted. A couple of questions, is the front end too "mushy"? Also are you running front shocks? You could go at this a couple of ways. First if it is "mushy" and you want it to ride higher too, take the spring to a spring shop if you have one in your area, we have one here where I'm at locally, and have them re-arch the spring and stiffen it up and possibly add some more leafs to it and this will cure the "mushyness" and raise it up too. You could also add shocks or if you have shocks go to a motorcycle type shock that has springs on the outside and accomplish some of the goals you have too. I can appreciate where you are coming from as your motor if it has iron heads is at least 300 pounds heavier than my aluminum headed SBC! Might want to consider aluminum heads on yours if you don't have have them, will take 100 pounds or more off of the front end and that would make a ton of difference! Hope this helps, Eddie
