Front tire/wheel question

I just bought 2 15 x 3.5 weld wheels, was hoping to put 165's or so on them but I'm seeing that they
recommend 4" to 5" wheels. Does anybody think this will be a problem? I want to keep a tall tire for ground clearance (25" to 26" tall?) Wanted a little wider wheel but got a great deal on these ($140) Any other advice would be appreciated

That is definitely too narrow of a wheel for either 155 or 165/80 tires. I can not recommend anything that will fit those rims and give you the height that you desire.

Just for myself I would feel much safer with a 145 80 15. You can Get a pair for about $155. A 165 80 is 25.5 tall with 6.5" section width, a 145 80 is 24.3 tall and 5.6 section width. The 165 is almost double the your rim in section width, which yes may work but just giving my safety conscious selfs opinion. (I work in safety/risk management part time with my company so yes I'm that guy they hate to see coming). Your are losing only 5/8 inch in height with the 145 vs 165. Unless your pan is really low I doubt you would ever notice that much.

Pull up your specific tire on their company web site and check their specs. That should be the rule you follow!

I did that, most suggest a 4" to 5" wheel. Didn't know if a 1/2" would make that much difference? Thanks for your help everyone.
