Fuel Cell Purchase

Is there any reason this fuel cell won't work with my Ford 352 FE? Will there be anything else I will need besides a GM dash gauge and fuel line? I'm wondering because the old truck gas tank had the fuel coming out the bottom and the fittings are at the top of this tank.

I have the 15 gal version of this tank. Really well made. I out the sending unit with an enclosed one (float in the tube) so I could put some fuel foam in it. I also made my own pickup tube with a baffle as the tanks do not have any kind of baffle or sump.

But my recommendation is to just call up Ron at RPM and have him make you one to your specs for less money.

RPM less money custom fit lets see what would I do.

That is a fuel TANK. A cell is made of ballistic material and filled with foam. No need for that in a Bucket. Not trying to be a smart --- but the advertisers print anything.

Ron, I'll get with you a little closer to when I actually need the tank. I had a local guy build my last gas tank. He did an excellent job except it leaked around the sender a tiny bit. It probably had something to do with who installed it... me.

Danger, Danger Will Robinson.

The fuel tank/fuel cell issue has been a real concern of mine.

I shudder when I think about having to have a gas tank sticking out the back of my T. We've all seen pictures of this. There is simple no protection, inadequate protection and/or insufficient protection or only marginal protection in the case of a read end collision in one of these cars.

I'd like to have one of those spun aluminum gas tanks sitting on the crossmember behind me, but I'd like one that had a fuel cell inside.... if such a thing exists. If it doesn't, would one of you talented gentlemen start making them. I would do it, however my problem is, if it takes you a week to do something, it takes me two months. Look at me now, 8:30 am and I sitting in bed drinking coffee and yacking here.

I plan on making my own gas tank when and when I get to that point, I'll hopefully figured something. I'm an "after-thinker" I think about stuff a week later. Like, Oh, now I know why that guy flipped me off on the freeway last Thursday........(thinking out loud here......he's lucky I only took his picture. My camera isn't the only thing on the seat next to me that can be used for shooting........... (not true))*.

I am going to make my own tank. There is a liquid sealer that used a lot for old classic tanks that leak It also give a flexible internal skin that affords some protection if you get rear ended. For me the only way to go is with a tank across the rear Xmember.

Heres the mock up. By the way a quote I had to make this was over 3000 USD. Huh

Gerry, I hope you post the pics of that tank going together. It certainly does not lack imagination. As for me, I guess I can't think outside of the box like that as all I need is a giant (around 20 gallons maybe more) tank. It will be located behind the back seat but inside the tub. As for the chance of being rear ended, it should be okay, I'm going to reuse the F-100 rear bumper and I'll be adding a square receiver hitch. Man I can't wait to get the money saved up! This project will be more than a dream starting in September!

This will only hold about 5-6 gallons. So I am running an additional 1.5 gallon tank down in the bottom of the body to act as a 'reserve' and get a clean feed away from the EFI return. Kinslers run at 72 psi and with a small tank there may be a problem with aeration if the pick up is not as far away from the return as I can get. I will take pics as I go. Plan to cut, fold and set everything up and then go to a great welder I know to get it welded.
