This one is really simple. And, the new forum software allows you a bit more flexibilty than the previous versions.
Look up in the upper-right corner of any forum page.
Click the down arrow next to your username and you'll see the dropdown menu appear, as above.
Click on
My Settings.
That will take you to the page where you can change some of your personal settings.
Click on the
Change your photo... button.
And that will allow you to insert the avatar of your choosing.
If you want to use a specific image as your avatar on this forum, tick the
Use a custom photo selection. Then you can browse to the directory where your image is stored, click on it and it will be uploaded for you.
Here's a hint. The crop adjusting might leave you a bit frustrated, so I suggest you resize your image to something in the 100 pixels X 100 pixels to 150 pixels X 150 pixels range, prior to uploading it. Any photo-editing software will allow you to do that. I use a program called Mirage on my Linux machines. On Windows,
IrfanView works really well.
GIMP is a bit like killing flies with a grenade-launcher, but it will also do the job.
Or, new in this latest version of the forum software, is the ability to use
Gravatar. In my not-so-humble opinion, Gravatar is really slick. Visit the Gravatar site and type in your e-mail address. You'll be able to set up an account with an avatar that matches that e-mail address. From there on out, any site you join that has Gravatar capablilities will allow you to simply type in your Gravatar e-mail address and your Gravatar will display. WordPress blogs have been using Gravatar for quite some time and many forum packages are picking it up, as well.
Once you have decided how you want to add your avatar, click
Done and your finished.
Let me know if you have any questions or problems.
