I hated that stupid new car

A while back my sis-in-law,her hubby and his mom were over at my house. First thing John does is take his mom out to the garage to show her my T-Bucket. She's 87 yo and knows a little something about cars. Natural she wants her picture taken in it (i was gonna take her for a ride but the battery was dead and my son had the battery charger).

After the picture taking session was over she points to the '56 Chevy sitting in the driveway and says "I had one just like that. We bought it brand new. I loved that car. I was so mad when Harold traded it in on a new car. I hated that stupid new car. I wouldn't even drive it. I wanted my Chevrolet back". The new car? A '64 1/2 Mustang.

I remember a time when my mother had this 62' Dodge GT Conv. and my father decided he would surprise her with a new car for her birthday. So one early morning he took her 62' and traded it in for a new 77' Ford Galaxy brought it home, parked it in the driveway and had her come out side to look at her new car. She was sooooo mad, I thought they were headed for divorce. He drove back to the dealership to buy back the 62', but it had already been sold. He then located the buyer and had to pay the buyer twice the amount to get it back. My father never again bought my mother a new car. My mother had that 62' until the day she died.

Here is one that hurts. My Grandfather bought a new 1956 Chevy Belair 2 tone with the 4 barrel 283. He had a stroke about 3 months later and the car for the next 30 years was garaged and dealer maintained. When both Grandparents passed in the 1980's my Aunt traded that showroom condition, all orginal '56 with just 9000 miles in on a new car and complained that it didn't cover tax and license on the new car. I was so mad at her I decided I needed to tell her what a major screw up her decision was and she could have sold it to me and bought (3) new cars outright. She returned to the dealer and they refused to sell her back the car, as the owner of the dealership kept it.

Its stories like this that piss me off. They knew what it was and proceeded to take advantage of her. I would be posting this story all over the Internet with the name of the dealership and salesman.
