Inglese Induction system

Anybody other than myself putting miles on a IDA Inglese setup on a SBC? If you are have you had any problems with the rollers on the accelerator pump levers? After about 90K miles on mine they have developed flat spots and are sliding on the ramps instead of rolling. Been thinking about replacing them with minature ball bearings (1/4 OD) but they are solid riveted to the lever. Just wondering if anyone has been down this road. Harley

Harley, I'm not real familiar with that particular set-up, but I've seen loads of roller-tipped rockers used with hydraulic lifter camshafts that have done the same thing. Since the rocker is pre-loading the lifter and there is never any clearance between the roller and valve tip, the roller never actually gets a chance to roll. It just ends up scrubbing back and forth across the valve tip, until it wears a flat spot.

If you look at the pump actuation arrangement on a Holley, you will see how the head of the adjusting screw scrubs on the pump lever in the same manner.

On your set-up, is there any way to provide a bit of clearance on the roller? Again, not being familiar with that carb, I assume that might retard the tip-in of your pump, but you might be able to tune that out elsewhere.

just food for thought.

Thanks for the thought. I'll try a pic a little later today, gotta clear off another snow storm. Harley
