interior work,lip pad

Along the top lip of cockpit, were i see some nice padding on many T Buckets, how is that held in place and or done?
There a few style of padded top lips, those with pleats and with out.
Snaps on some show, yet many have no screws or snaps showing, and with all the jumping in and out,no way just glue would keep a pad inplace on the top rail.
So what are the tricks used now?
Asuming a glass body with some wood inside.

Mine is part of the interior insert ... CCR.

Thats pritty,very nice in deed.
Thanks,I can see how wrapping/gluing around a insert dose work with that great photo.
I'm going to build my son some custom seat and panels for his T,so no insert.
Was wondering how others have held lip pad inplace?

I made a "tack strip" all along the top rail of the body(3/4"x3/4"wood).Several pieces shaped to fit the curves-takes a while. Then the upholsterer stretches the material over the top and tacks it to the outside edge of the strip. He then hides it with "hide-em'welt which finishes the edge.I used Duraglass to "glue" the tack strip to the body. It's important to communicate with your upholsterer so he gets what he needs and you get what you need. I had several meetings before we even got started.

thanks Hotrodman,
I'm asking for as many ways to do it as I can find.
I'm understanding your tack wood strip thing on top of cockpit lip.
The tackstrip cover welt bead you say kind of pushis out of the way for tacking?

On my TP car it has what looks like serrated nails that are put in the roll when they sew it. Then there is a small hole drilled in the fiberglass and it just pushes in. If I was home I would post a pic but I am out of town. I personally don't like it as the front has already wore out the hole and it sticks up.

Yes-and the hidem welt can be made up with the same material as the upholstery-makes a nice finished edge.

I'm trying to get set in my head how to do this cockpit lip pad so all the climing in and out over it,dose not rip it loss.
There must be more ways.
I think I lucked out in that a buddy just told me he has a extra heavy dudy sewing machine I can barrow for as long as needed.
Need to look around for some info on were to get fab ,welting, rolls and pleats and stuff also.
Thanks

The CCR insert is all one piece and made just like it was a bucket seat for a boat, only bigger, and no back covering, just drops into a CCR T body, fits like a glove, really needs nothing to hold it in in most cases... body needs no other wooding inside.. But with the door model, that side may have some extra bracing... Ride safe

I don't know if you can see this but in this pic it is almost like teeth that traps the material then the material is folded over it to cover it up.

Here is another pic of this stuff

There is a screw at end to hold it down.

Ted i have a CCR body with a door and their is a brace just in front of the door it attaches to the floor and the windshield stantion post and it is very strong door is hinged off this metal piece.
