Just a brief reminder

For the biggest part, I think most of us are big boys and girls and have been exposed to our share of what I shall refer to as adult humor. As a result, I suspect most of us have become rather immune to it and generally tend to take it all in stride.

But I want to point out I said 'most of us' in both the above sentences.

The site is open for all to visit and to join. Which means impressionable young people are likely visiting the site, but also ladies that might not appreciate what others see as humor. And yes, believe it or not, we have members of the site that do not want their family members exposed to suggestive material. Imagine that, eh?

So just to make it a bit more clear, allow me to pull in a quote from the T-Bucket Forums' Rules -

e. T-Bucket Forums members should remember this board is aimed at an audience of all ages. Posting suggestive, pornographic or generally offensive text, images, links, etc. will not be tolerated and will lead to an infraction. Posts containing any of this material will be removed.

I don't like having to trot the rules page out in front of everyone. I really don't. But if it has to be done I'm not afraid to do it, either.

A few days back, a former member of this site wasted both his time and my own by trying to explain his use of offensive language in a minimal manner was acceptable. No, it most certainly was not. And I finally ended up blocking his e-mail address to prevent him from sending me any more of his hateful explanations as to why his behavior was acceptable. :hooray: Apparently the puir child was under the impression he was paying the bills and calling the shots around here. I've no idea if he has managed to sort his confusion, even yet.

So let me explain it this way; if you are about to post something to the site, ask yourself if you would expose your own family to the material whilst at Easter dinner. Is it something you want your own children or parents to see or read? If so, then post away. If it is something that you believe might offend someone, then assume you are about to do just that very thing and keep it to yourself.

Does that sound fair enough and make sense to everyone?

For those that feel chafed by such restrictions, I understand your position as well. Please scroll to the top of the page, click on the Sign Out link under your name and move on to some place with fewer rules and expectations.

Hopefully, that will sound equally fair.

Merry Christmas to all.

I applaud your efforts to keep this forum family friendly. Merry CHRISTmas to you and your family.

Thanks Mike for keeping this site safe for the family.
Hope everone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Thank you Mike,I have several grandchildren that are excited about my tbucket build and enjoy the forum too. It is good to know that we don't have worry about things of that sort showing up on here.Have a very merry Christmas an a happy new year.

I agree. I don't want to risk loosing the benefit of this site and if this type of activity gets out of hand it will ruin the site for everyone. Thanks Mike for staying on top of these things and keeping the site clean.

No problem here Mike. There is a time and place for gutter talk and this forum is neither. You have my total support on this matter.

Ron

Thank you Mike, I have young grandsons that love looking at the pictures the guys are posting of their work. I love the fact that the pictures inspire them to ask questions and it's comforting knowing that I don't have to worry about them seeing something they shouldn't.

My feelings on this are if we do not allow the values of gentlemanly behavior to be eroded, then we won't ever have problems.

Remember the days when Cher's exposed navel shut down recording for the Sonny & Cher Show? On today's television, the site of an exposed navel doesn't even draw a second glance. that, of course, is the result of 35 - 40 years of looking the other way, with respect to decency.

I can admire the image of a pretty girl as much as anyone else. But when the image reaches a certain point with respect to decency, then I don't feel it is appropriate for this site. There are other Web sites that specialize in those types of images and they probably wouldn't be appreciative of their members posting a lot of T-Bucket photos.

I recognize it is likely a pipe dream, but I still believe we can teach young children by exemplifying high standards to them. I think we've proved exemplifying rotten standards has been a pure failure, so I just keep hoping for the best. See, I told you it was a dream.

Merry Christmas, everyone. My granddaughter is due in a couple hours , so I better go get the cinnamon rolls in the oven. She and I are going to need energy to play with her toys.

Sounds good to me and I apologize for any offensive references I might have posted.
I appreciate the atmosphere on the site and thank Mike and all members for helping
to maintain this comfort zone.

Merry Christmas guys and gals

Thanks Mike and Merry Christmas all.

We just do the best we can. Sometimes that isn't good enough for some people, but I can live with that. It's always been my position that trying to please everyone is a sure recipe for absolute failure. And I'm not going to drive myself crazier than I already am, just to fail.

This site cannot be all things to all people. The people that enjoy this site will generally register and participate here. The people that don't care for this site or are not a good fit for this site will usually move on. However it goes, I sleep very well at night.

When I find a small handful of people (who were chronically dissatisfied with this site in the first place) griping/complaining/whining about us in other venues, I just chuckle to myself and keep working harder to make this site even better.

Which means we will continue to maintain a high standard of conduct for our members. We're ain't gonna to fix it, if it ain't already broke. :welxome:

A grown man should have enough tools in his vocabulary tool box to express himself without using school yard lingo. Thats not to say that a good ole curse word doesnt have its place and time but not here. "Thanks Mike" and post some pics of the latest addition to the family please.
