New to the forum and looking for help putting a Track T project I just bought back on the road. The T came with a 1950 Ford rearend but is missing pieces.
I believe the rearend as originally built was a GM of some sort but was way too wide so the previous owner was looking to fit in the Ford unit.
From searching the Forum it appears an S 10 rearend would be a great fit as well as plentiful (not so on the '50 Ford).
So here are my questions: Are there specific years or model S 10 rearends I should look for? Is there any pinion yoke offset that will make my very short driveshaft problematic? Are there any housings that look better from the rear or are they all the same.
I need the rear to be drums.
The T is a track nosed pickup, fully hooded with external headers. It was built in Texas and registered as a 1981 special built roadster. It has been in the Pacific Northwest for a while and off the road for over 4 years.
I will post a few pix as I get it back together.
Thanks in advance for your help.
