I went to the car show in Milwaukee at the state fair park. Its called the car craft national's. There was a lot of nice cars but only one T bucket. It seems most of the cars are from the 50's & 60's. Have any of you guy's had the same in your area? To me street rods are from the 1920's, 30's & 40's.

Same here around Tulsa. Usually only 2 or 3 show up, and always the same ones. I guess I am one of the die hards. I still think the cut off date should be 1949.

I am finding the same in my area north of you, very disappointing......even many newer than the 60's. Was the bucket there a guy named Mark with a green Marvin the Martian car?

You should try to attend the Frog Follies in Evansville, IN. It's held in late August and is the largest pre-'49 show in the country. Probably 4500 hot rods and street rods. Great and reasonably-priced food, inexpensive registration, and a good swap meet. No Camaros or Mustangs to be found!

The Car Craft Summer Nationals is a street machine event. Street machines are typically 50's thru 70's cars even though I believe it is open to all years. When I go to most Ford shows I am the only T bucket. Even open shows may have 1 or 2 tbuckets. I almost wonder if people just want more these days from a comfort standpoint. Tbuckets are cool but they have a lot of drawbacks.

I tend to think owners age and air conditioning go hand in hand. Here in the Kansas City area there are a ton of car shows ranging from small local area to really big shows and comfort does seem to rule the day. I get it but don't really care for all the comfort stuff. On the flip side, the same people wanting comfort all seem to have a Harley. Makes you wonder!

A/C is great. Unfortunately I don't like the clutter, and a bunch of holes thru the firewall. So, I just have to be content having a HOT ROD. My 46 does have heat and air, but the a/c hasn't been charged in years. Your right about the age thing Floyd. All the young'uns gotta have it.

Our '37 Chevy has all the modern options except cruise as I never use it anyway. Even living in central Florida we do not use the air as we prefer the windows down. We are definitely not young as we are both nearing seventy-five so that may have something to do with it but we do use the air in our everyday ride.

75 ain't old, it's just a number like the temperature! You're as old as you feel and some days are better than others, I know, that's why I don't look in the mirror!!!!!

I like ac, but don't like the look. My '69 skylark convertible has it from the factory. I don't use it much because when I drive the car, the tops down. Ac is more common in street rods these days for sure. My friend who builds about two or three hot rods a year puts it in a lot of them. He is always on the watch for small compressors, etc to work into tight quarters.

Just got back from a show in Florida. One T bucket showed up but it was trailered. It was HOT in an open car. We left really early in the morning to return home just to beat the heat.

There was a good mix of cars there but the muscle cars took most of the awards.

To bad more guys are not able to build street rods. Maybe it has to do with cost. It's easier to fix up a car from the 60's than build something from the 30's or 40's.

I never had A/C then I moved to Louisiana. I don't do anything from June to Sept it is so gawdawful here in the summer months. Now I did take my AC cobra on the Hot Rod Power tour this year and that was a scorcher with the hottest Tour ever. But the humidity was low in TX, OK and Kansas. That makes a big difference.

A friend of mine built a Cobra and the first time he took it out it was one of the hottest days that summer. Very hot and humid. He said he felt like a sardine in a can. The only time it gets above 80 in Wisconsin, is when the moist hot air comes up from the south. Us northern boys don't like hot and humid. I can blow snow but, hot and humid just blows.
