Mustang Shifter for 350 Turbo

Has anyone put a Mustang shifter in their T-Bucket with a 350 Turbo trans?
I have a shifter out of an early Stang 65 or so. I was going to mount it on the floor and make a linkage rod to the trans. I have heard that when the engine torques it can make the linkage slip out of, or into gear. Has anyone got experiece with this?
Thanks,
Tex-T

Aren't those the same as a Pinto shifter? I've used several in older trucks running stock 283's to very warm 350's without any problems.

Thats what I have is a pinto floor shifter , on a 350 turbo, with a warmed over 305. I haven't had any problems , I wish I had a nutural switch, so it would only start in park.

It was popular at one time to use Mustang type floor shifters in street rods. They kind of went out of popularity when the aftermarket started coming out with Lokars, etc. But they work fine and in a stock Mustang they bolt to the floor with no problems.
