Nasty Cocktail Orders

I went out for dinner this evening to my favorite prime rib place. I usually just eat at the bar, since it's usually just me. :shrug2: Anyway, having been a bartender in another life, I thought I had heard some pretty weird drink orders, but I think this one tops them all... Maker's Mark and ginger ale!! OMFG!! For those who don't partake, Maker's Mark is one of the top bourbon labels out there, "top shelf" as they say. At this particular restaurant it's $9.50 a shot!! If you MUST mix it with something, it should only be water!! But ginger ale?!?!? Give me a frickin' break!! I didn't even know they made that s**t any more!!

I've found there are a lot of people who like to name whisky (or whiskey, if we're drinking American :winkn:) as their favorite drink, but they really do not appreciate the taste.

A friend and I had enjoyed a pretty good dinner in a pub down in Indy. The server came around to check if we wanted dessert and, of course, I did. I asked for a dram of The MacAllan, 18 year. The server asked if I would like water or ice. $14.50 a dram and you think I am going to waste it?

No, :jawdrop: with alcohol that good it should be served neat.

Maker's Mark has in interesting story. According to the Jack Daniel biography (can't remember the name of the book right now - sorry), Maker's Mark was originally just a mixture of several Whiskey maker's products - some of ol' Jasper's goods were in there, yes.

You could probably tell I'm a fan of old No 7 - hence the number on the side of Kletus. Just tried Jack and Ginger Ale for the first time the other day and I have to say I am not convinced.

I've had my share of Jack and Coke, tried Jack and Sprite, Jack and Mountain Dew, and now Jack and Ginger Ale.

Prefer it straight most of the time, but I'll mix it also. Of course I also used to drop M&Ms in my Dr Pepper, so...

My tongue has touched a gram or so of whiskey and such. The aroma alone almost makes me sick.
My wife will have a brandy and soda and I can smell it when I come in from the garage..... no, not at eight in the morning! who said that?
I'm a wine and beer guy and I also like vodka occasionally.
One of my good pals is a scotch guru. I can't even think of ever trying it.

Yo Bro
Gerry

Ech .... Do you mix the two?

Never.
That would be like mixing pop music with Greek mythology. They have some things in common but just dont go together

Mostly beer and wine, but should bushmell arive, it might not get out alive

Yeh you would
It just takes practice

like single malt scotch{no offense Gerry} once in a while but like a little captain more in my price range.

You have it there Putz. That's the stuff my pal drinks.

He was up to the house awhile back and helped me with get the new gas valve in and working for the new stove in the bedroom..... too much info, huh?

We went over to my local liquor store to get some beer. I wanted to buy him a bottle of Glenfiddich and they don't even carry it. There's some insight into the mountian men environment and mentality around here.

I think my avatar says it all, I enjoy it on the rocks with a wee splash of water.

Tanqueray Gin and Tonic, or Meyers Rum and Coke, or a good cold beer.

Wanna get 'invited' to leave the bar?

Just order "Tiddy's and Bubbles"... Tiddy's Canadian Liqueur and soda - the antithesis of a Whiskey Sour.
Well Tittys and Bubbles both like Whiskey Sours. So as the saying goes, "What ever Lola wants, Lola gets ,,,, ". (Lola also likes Whisky Sours).

Another lesson learned from experience, John

beer dark, wine sweet, and most whisky clear, and straigh. most of the dark whisky really has a bad smell to me. did i say i like dark beer? there is another that i can't stay away from and don't have a clue how to spell it so i will the way it sounds ya ya yager, just never enough.
