New Old Suspension; would it work on a bucket?

Packard made a revolutionary suspension system in 1955. Here's a look at it with a little animation:

It used long torsion bars connecting the front and rear suspensions, which eliminated pitching. I wonder if this could work on a bucket or other hot rod? Sure would be unique.

It would take a lot of experimenting with the bars to ever get it right. If it was so great, why didn't others give it a try? Patents? VW did I guess, but a bit different. Interesting concept.

There was a pretty famous Tbucket in CA in the 60s? that used torsion bar suspension. CRS keeps me from remembering the guys name.
60s Darts/Valiantly with the slant 6s would be good candidates for the parts due to their light weight and shorter torsion bars.
